I love going to the movie theatre

Not to watch the movie shown on the big screen 

But to watch the movie playing in every person’s eyes... 

A doctor who has finished a heart surgery 

A cab driver who is yet to finish his day’s targets 

An accountant who is in love with numbers 

A content writer who is in love with words

A couple brought together by years of love

A couple brought together by months of matrimony searches

A man whose decisions are driven by caste

A woman who does not believe in God

An admirer of the actor

A devotee of the director 

And so many more types of men and women 

Are brought together in a dark room 

Where they get to dream with their eyes open..

Dreams of a hundred varieties 

Made possible by the dream of one filmmaker. 

The screen might show the hero and heroine falling in love

But the eyes of a young viewer might project pain

From his recently failed relationship. 

The screen might show the hero losing a parent

But the eyes of an old viewer might express joy 

From his happiness in having lived a good life.

A fight in the movie might trigger a fire in a hundred eyes

A song in the movie might trigger pleasure in a hundred more.

As the images move at 24 frames per second 

The viewers' flights of fancy flow along from the start to the end.

If movie studios are dream factories

Then equally so are movie theatres.

The next time you walk into a theatre

Don't just pay attention to the deafening whistles

Also, pay attention to the dreamy eyes...
