The Tale Of The Dragon And The Girl Who Could Fly

The Tale Of The Dragon And The Girl Who Could Fly

3 mins

“I would like to float up in the sky like there’s nothing to worry about

I would like to extend my wings in the air without a speck of doubt

And when the birds chirp besides me, I’d give them a conquering giggle

As if saying – you’re not the only one who can claim the sky to mingle”

So, she sings relishing the powers she steals from a wicked witch’s cabin

By drinking a potion she stumbles upon, unscarred of the things that could happen

now all she cares are the birds who dare to look her in the eye

waving her hands, she smiles with pride, as if bidding goodbye

The birds would still chirp the normal way looking at a foreigner glide

Not resisting or giving the girl even a hint of their mind

Then she would pass by the infamous woods

Who gave names to Jack, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood

And from up here it’ll somehow be soft and mesmerizing

For her to want to have a sudden land

But any kind of stoppages or landings were obviously banned

And then she would pass through a hurricane of thoughts

Of how to cross to the other side of the typhoon she suddenly came across

But then she finds a beautiful old dragon help her through the rail

As if she was in some sort of a romance fairy tale

He helped her with her confidence and her invisible purple cape

And she would laugh and laugh and laugh and then suddenly gape

At the weird noises coming from inside of him, “it looks like something from inside you has spoken”

With a sigh he’d reply, “It’s nothing, I’m just a little bit broken”

And so she’d brainstorm of a hundred ways on how to fix him

Although she knows there’s only one resort miles away

Which she couldn’t just travel on a whim

On to the town where the wicked witch lives, she’d go begging for mercy

to reverse the spell cast on the poor dragon who got cursed because of the gnomes controversy

The wicked witch agrees to help her on simple three conditions

“Sacrifice your sleep” she says with every inch of ambition

“Your eyes are pretty” she claims, “give up your sight”

The witch’s wails fill her with nothing less than a mountain of fright

“Of course, you’ll have to give away your flight” she grins with a sudden hint of red in her eyes

The poor girl tears up wishing she had at least said her final goodbyes

she closes her eyes to see his face all frightened at night

Of the voices that claim he’s broken. Oh! she’s ready for the witch’s vicious rite

Of claiming the things, she values the most in exchange for the dragon’s heart

“It’s the void that’s making the noises. Didn’t you know that from the start?”

She runs back towards the dragon, walking miles and miles of art

“Somehow he looks even sadder although we were together after days apart”

He tears up as she lays on his lap, filtering the noises, she could only hear him

“Why?” he asks, the sounds only going further and further dim

She smiles to say “I promised myself to love you even if it tore me apart.

To bring back you, the most precious kept Harte”

He weeps, he breaks as he says “it was you who could’ve replaced the void.

Why did you bury yourself with the disgraceful dragon’s love asteroid”

“I love-“ is all she could say before she turned into pretty tinkles floating in the sky

After all, she did get to experience one last love of sigh.
