Elections In The Jungle

Started the jungle with a startling buzz

The environment getting warm.

The small creatures were on an alert

With the birds starting to swarm.

The Lion and Tigers fought each other

Threatening and cursing along!

Citing safety for the animal commons

Singing the development song!

The deer, drinking by the riverside 

Was greeted by the King!

And was reassured of his safety,

To fear from not a thing!

Shocked as the deer was, 

Lately praying for his life

Got up on his lax legs,

Ran home to his wife!

"Darling! We're in safe hands!"

Exclaimed the innocent being!

"The King asked me to fear no one

And kissed me this evening!"

Mrs. Deer, a reasonable lady.

Spoke in a dubious tone,

"Club Leo assigned us a bodyguard

Also offered our child the throne!"

The Jumbo Club, as wise they were

Called an urgent meeting.

Informed all the fellow animals

Demanded maximum sitting!

Though in doubt, the animals turned up

To the meeting, they were called.

Mr. President Elephant took to addressing

The mass of the animal world!

"The jungle has seen some movement lately

Some fishy moves around!"

Just then, a couple of eyes were turned

Towards a hissing sound!

"Attention fellow mates!" cried the Elephant

"We do fear that this is - 

Something our commons don't see often..."

...Another disturbing hiss!

Shrugged the distraction, he continued,

"Er... The predators turning around

to protect their preys is uncanny..."

...A resounding hissing sound.

Mister and Missus Deer now thought

How foolish they could be

To overlook the King, play nice

That everyone gets to see...

...Before elections. With mouthful smile

The one who kissed you now.

Would tear you up with an evil grin

Once they take oath and vow!

Frustrated by now, Mr. President said 

"Okay, my friend, have your say."

The snake moved up the stage swiftly

Hissing and slithering on his way!

"With all due ressspect, Mr. Presssident

It's the election ssseason at sstake!

And Electionsss, we know, is all about

Choosing the lesser poisonous sssnake..."
