Here she was at her crossroads of making her career choice. Ann always knew she loved teaching children. Her passion, her joy was found in teaching children. There was no way to put this joy of hers into words. But deep inside she knew that she lives in a society where only engineers, doctors, chartered accountants are seen as the right and best career choices. Anything else shows one as not a mature enough choice. Ann's twelfth's standard's exams were soon getting over and the most dreaded impending conversation she had to have with her mom was lurking in her mind for a long time. The D day came and off she went to talk with her mom about her likes and dislikes. Well that’s what Ann thought…that it would be more of “talking with” her mom but it was more like her mom “talking to” Ann…like a one-sided conversation. At the end of the talk, her mom emotionally blackmailed that getting qualified to teach children will reach Ann nowhere, that there will be so many same qualified people which would mean that Ann would never get a job that she's desiring for, that Ann would never earn enough. Ann felt deeply hurt, disappointed. So, she made a major life decision by listening to her head and not her heart.

Fast forward 4 years into Ann's engineering education, Ann still had no inkling to engineering concepts. However, she met her husband-to-be, Nathan, her best friend for life, Su, in the very same engineering college. She was happy if not anything else that could come good out of her engineering education, she was able to meet her soul-mate and her bestie. She thought now that since she has an engineering related degree, she might as well teach engineering students. Ann still didn’t have the courage to talk with her mom. So she goes ahead listening to her head again and went ahead for her Masters in engineering. She finished her Masters and started teaching engineering colleges. Many days she would push herself to work. Ann understood that was her heart's yearning to follow her passion but she just didn't have the courage. She kept wondering “What would others say? What would her mom say? Would her mom understand?”. Nathan and Su saw the struggles Ann was going through literally everyday. Along with the emptiness Ann felt and the much awaited push she needed, Ann took the plunge. She applied for a teaching post in a school. She confronted her mom about the disastrous choices she made using her head and that she would hereafter follow her heart. She told her mom she had applied for a school teaching job.

She soon got an interview call from the school. She impressed the interview panel spot on, that the job became hers. Like the saying goes “When you want something, all the universe always conspires in helping you achieve it”, Ann found her stars shining again.
