Being a girl is hard, overcoming stereotypes is harder.

We, as girls and women, have got both.

'How is she watching cricket?'

'Cricket is not for girls.'

'Does she even know what she's doing- breaking rules of the society.'

Naomi's cheeks were painted with the tricolor flag, Indian cricket jersey on her body, entire living room of her house was filled with boys who were her cricket buddies, and she was the only girl among them.

Every boy in the room was fascinated by Naomi's enthusiasm and love towards cricket even after being a girl, and most importantly her father's disallowance on her love towards cricket and doing 'boyish' stuff. Naomi was a very strong girl, but her dad was the first person from whom she feared. As soon as her dad came home every day from work at eight in the evening, she had to switch channels on the television from Star Sports to Barbie DreamWorld to avoid being hit from the cricket bat he owns.

If there wasn't Naomi's mom who remained silent after being beaten up daily, Naomi wouldn't have even been educated.

Sometimes she felt like murdering her dad in a very painful way, because both of 'em- she and her mom were under this pressure for about two years.

Anyway, Naomi was very busy watching Cricket that day that she lost track of time. Thirty minutes to eight, fifteen, ten, five, two- and ting tong! Her dad was home, and she didn't realise that this could be her dad, thinking that it'd be the Pizza boy. Naomi's mom reached the door, and opened it, being sure that this wouldn't be her husband. But as she opened it, she was going to faint as she saw her husband and knew that an earthquake was goin' to occur when he would see his daughter.

As he entered, (first he asked if the food was prepared) he heard the empire in the television shout 'And... sixer!' He wooshed into the living area and screamed, 'What on Earth is going on Naomi? What's with all these boys? Get out all of you!' All the boys rushed out of the house, frightened by the man- who was Naomi's dad.

'How many times have I told you not to do boyish things! Switch off the TV!' exclaimed her father. She did what her father commanded her to do.

'Where's your suit? Roaming in short dresses with Cricket written on it? Total waste!'

'It's a jersey and it isn't useless. Cricket's fun.' she defended herself.

'Whatever! That isn't the point! A girl's job is not to do such things- it is to run the house. And that's what you've to do! You are lucky to even get educated.' he blabbered.

'No. It isn't.' For the first time, she gathered the courage to raise her voice against her father's.

'What'd you say? Let me bring my bat and repair you 'cause you're jumping a lot these days. Without me hitting you, you'll not change.'

He threw his bag on the table and grabbed his- or Naomi's old bat which was kept against the wall. He was going to hit his daughter with a lot of force, when-

'Dare you to touch my daughter.' said his wife- better understood in real when said Naomi's mom.

'Hmm.. You girls are questioning the man of your house very often these days. You both require a brand new hit to be back in your forms- filthy, useless forms.'

'Show both of us what you can do. Wanna touch us? Come.' shouted Naomi with much more courage.

Her father came to a step closer to them when before his move, his wife took out her heel and inserted it right into her husband's tummy. She screamed while tears were coming out from her eyes, 'for all you've done to me till now', 'for torturing me', for making me sit in a corner and cry', for beating my daughter'.

Naomi was crying when she saw her mom raising voice against someone, that too for her. She felt like a big girl.

Her father was totally shocked when he was hit for the first time by the woman he termed as a 'coward'.

From that day on, the terror of him being poked by a heel again, or particularly by 'women power' made him never taunt the women of his house.

They overcame everything which was meant to destroy them.

There is no limit to what we, as women, can do.
