Why crack jokes on gender? Why crack jokes on race? Why crack jokes discriminating ideas? Why joke about thinking about one's taste?Why?We often tend to joke about very sensitive matters and dont realise how it affects the person standing in front of us. Imagine a situation wherein you and your friend crack a silly joke on a transgender on a phone call and laugh it out for a few seconds, it may not bother you or anyone transgender because no one leaving the both of you is listening, but morally are you doing anything right?

Would you like if you grow up having a happy family and life and have a baby who turns out to be trans and is grown in an environment where everyone lives in denial of your child's identity and when the denial phase is over is left on the streets with nothing but to adopt the lifestyle wherein they need to trade their blessings in a change of a few rupees to survive and yet hear people making fun of them, constantly staring at them or making jokes on them on calls? I dont think anyone has a dream of such a life for their child. But here in India, this is exactly what happens only because of someone's sex. So next time when you make fun of the number nine or six and laugh it out, just remember there are people of your age who regret being alive and have no option but to be kind ~NITYA DANI
