Adina

Adina shifted focus from Colin to the pack in front of her. She was having a horrible day, and she just wanted it to be over with.

“I want to know if everyone of you agreed with this decision,” she stated.

“No, my lady,” the old werewolf, Cranney, said. “There was a discussion regarding the subject a few years back, and this was one solution that was presented. But as most of us were against it, it was scrapped,” he explained.

“Thank you Cranney. Can someone explain what you were thinking? That I would sleep with him until I got pregnant? That I would mate with him? What was the plan?” Adina asked. She was agitated, and she had an urge to physically hurt someone.

“The plan was for you two to conceive a pup, nothing else,” Jasmin finally said.

“So, you just expected me to sleep with a random man until I got pregnant?” Adina asked. She had a hard time believing it.

“Yes, we didn’t see an alternative. A mate to move around with you was too complicated. We thought about having your protector do it. But we didn’t want to add to your close bond,” Mirabelle admitted.

A growl came from both Sean and Colin.

“And you thought I would raise the pup on my own while moving around?” Adina asked. That would never happen. A pup should never have to live the life that she had lived, Adina thought.

Adina saw the look that Mirabelle and Jasmin exchanged. That was not at all what they had planned.

“What were your plans for my pup?” she asked them, dreading the answer. No one spoke.

“Answer the question,” Adina raised her voice and for the first time in a long while, she added her alpha command to it. She saw how everyone, including Colin, flinched.

“We were to take it and raise it,” Jasmin said. She looked like she was trying to fight the command, but without succeeding.

Everyone in the pack except from Mirabelle gasped, Colin, Sean and Adina roared as one. It was clear to Adina that that detail hadn’t been brought up to the council.

“That’s treason,” Roger, another werewolf, almost whispered.

“It’s what needs to be done. The rest of you are just too scared to do it,” Jasmin defiantly told them.

“Well, this has been a most interesting conversation. Now let’s talk about my future, as it actually will be,” Adina said.

“Let me introduce alpha Colin, alpha of the Black Moon pack. For you that hasn’t gotten the hints. He’s my mate. We have marked each other, and Sean and I will become permanent members of his pack. That puts an end to this moving around,” Adina told the pack.

“Colin will become part of this pack,” she continued. “This pack has gotten a bad habit to decide things behind my back. That ends today. No discussions, no decisions, are to be had without me, Colin, or Sean present. I will punish no one for doing so in the past. But I’m looking into what has been decided and If I find illegal or dubious decisions, that will be dealt with,” Adina looked out over the pack. They had gone somewhat pale, but several nodded.

“As for you two,” she then said. Turning to Jasmin and Mirabelle.

“Your action was borderline treason. I will not demand the full punishment for that crime. But I will exclude you from the pack,” Adina said.

“You can’t do that!” Jasmin shouted.

“I can and I will. Jasmin and Mirabelle, you are no longer sisters of the pack, your blood is no longer a part of ours, you are not bonded to us, you and we are no longer one,” Adina recited, and she could feel the snap of the two bonds.

Both women panted heavily, staring around at the other pack members.

“You can leave,” Adina told them. They hesitated. Adina looked at Colin and he got the message. Two warriors came walking into the room and escorted the two women out.

“We need to put all this behind us and focus on what we are supposed to be doing. Our responsibility is to balance the magical community. We don’t have time for all these other things. And as a first step, we need to find two vampires and a witch to replace our lost members,” Adina said, looking around.

“I want your recommendations within a week. We will reconvene after that and go through our options. I prefer to do things as a pack, but if you think I will ignore things and play dead. Think again.” she looked at each one of them as she said it.

“Cernack will shortly inform you what happened with Cleatus, but before that. Do you have questions?” she asked.

“What will happen to Sean?” Roger asked.

“Nothing will happen to him. He will stay as my protector,” Adina answered.

“But you have a mate,” Roger stated.

“That doesn’t matter, Sean will stay,” Adina said.

“I have named him my brother. He is more than welcome. As Adina’s protector, I am grateful to have him in our pack. As alpha, my duties sometimes may prevent me from traveling with her or be present as much as I want. Sean will make sure she is always safe,” Colin said.

Adina smiled at her mate. He had really come a long way in accepting Sean.

“I think that is commendable alpha. To realize one’s limitations is key to success. That is why it’s not uncommon for lunas to have more than one mate. Alphas have things to do besides tending to their mates.” Cranney nodded happily.

“That is true,” Cernack agreed.

“Questions?” Adina asked.

There were some regarding the nominations and what the minimum requirements were. After that, Cernack gave a report regarding Cleatus and after that they closed the meeting.

As they got back into their cars to head back to the airport, Adina realised it had taken less than four hours in all. It had just felt like a lifetime. She sighed and leaned into Colin. He put his arm around her and kissed the top of her head.

“Are you okay?” he asked.

“I think so, mostly okay. But I can’t wait to get back home,” she said.

“Yeah, that will be nice,” Sean agreed.

Colin laughed and both Adina and Sean looked at him.

“You realise that you two just called our pack home, right? Who would have thought that was possible a month ago?” he smiled at them.

Adina and Sean looked at each other, smiled, and shrugged. But Colin was right, Adina thought. She never thought that she would have a permanent home again.

They got on the plane and Adina sat next to Colin with Sean opposite her. They were going through the events of the day.

“Just so you know, you are never going to contact that Markus again,” Colin blankly told her.

“Colin, he is a resource,” Adina tried to say.

“No, Adina, Colin is right. There will be no more contact with him. We have other resources,” Sean said.

“Come on, I’m not saying that he was right coming here, not when he knew I had a mate and with that crazy plan. But we don’t know how involved he was,” Adina looked at Sean.

“Doesn’t matter, little dove, he agreed to have sex with a mated she-wolf, he is out of your life,” Colin said.

“For good,” Sean added. Adina looked from one to the other of them.

“Are you to gaining up on me?” she asked.

They both shrugged and looked like it was the most natural thing.

“Okay, so I guess I’ll block him” Adina knew it was a lost cause.

Both Colin and Sean nodded and looked pleased.
