Walk

Walk

When I’m finally discharged, I would walk everywhere. I would not use our car, or take a taxi.

I would skip along the pavement, and my fellow pedestrians would look at me, and they would follow suit.

I would encounter those food trucks, selling tacos. Rhea brought it for me once. It was spicy and sour, but I liked it. It was different from what I’m usually given.

I would eat them as much as I can. So much that I would find it difficult to walk. But I would still walk on.

I would find that nice park on the way. There would be kids playing, and their mothers chatting. The elderly would be taking a stroll. I would go and play with the kids until I’m out of breath. The sun would set and the people would start leaving. I would also reluctantly leave.

Maybe during my walk I would encounter my true love. My prince charming. I would maybe walk into him while I’m looking around, and he’s deep in thought. I would apologize, and he would apologize, and then we would laugh. We would have a pleasant chat about the weather, and how he is an aspiring singer. It would be like in these books they keep here.

I would then walk on, and reach the end of the pavement, where the pedestrian crossing begins. I would wait for the light to turn green. There are lights for pedestrians too, like there are for cars. I would wait at one end and there would be people at the other end. I would wave at them and they would wave back.

When the light turns green, I would walk to the other side. I would cross the people I waved at, and we would smile at each other.

I would then arrive at that nice cafe. The one everyone was talking about. I would stroll in, and be taken aback by the nice smell of coffee. Their brownies are delicious, I would confirm, and their coffee is the finest in the city.

After finishing my dessert I would walk on, and I would reach that uphill road. Uphill walks are harder because gravity works against you, but it would be easy for me, because I can walk. And I would walk, till I reach the top, and from where it’s all downhill. And then I would run, and I would run faster than everyone, and I would reach the bottom, but I would keep on running. I would run till I reach my house.

I might miss amazing things while I’m running, like that library with tons and tons of books, of all kinds, on all subjects, or that ice cream parlour with the delicious ice-cream, but I could always walk back.

Because I would be able to walk.

As soon as that day comes.

I would walk everywhere.
