Trust is the Victim

It seems like yesterday, when they looked all set to defeat the monster. They won an inter-school competition with their skit. Rolu-Polu was dressed as CoronaVirus, much to the dismay of his parents. But no one else could act scared as he did, to amuse the young audience. The winners wielded a syringe to mow him down.

But soon, they were locked up with their biological families. The larger group where they belonged, learnt and grew up together was dismantled.

I’m not sure how to start the day today.

The sparkle in the eyes looks familiar. But I have to wait till they take off their masks.

“So, how was the long break from school, kids?”

“Not so great. We are happy to be back,” says a muffled voice.

“Will you take off your masks so I can see your lovely faces? Wearing a mask is not compulsory any more.”

“Are you sure we can trust where our friends have been in the last two weeks, and what infections can they carry?”
