There Were No Blues Behind That Blue Sari!

A silhouette clad in a blue sari passed by me as I stretched myself in the auditorium. At first I did not pay much heed to who she was but there was something different about her. It was Fresher’s party, the most awaited time of the year when the entire department comes together. The 2nd year students had prepared a warm welcoming ceremony and we, the senior-most students were busy passing our expert comments and chatting along in the middle seats.

This girl was accompanied by a male partner, who escorted her to the podium. I could only manage to see her retreating figure and my eyes sparkled at her high heels. When she reached the stage, we noticed her eyes. They were red and hardly opened. We realized that she could barely see and were awestruck. Her elegance, the way she carried herself and most of all, her CONFIDENCE left a mark on me from the very first day. She gave a perfect dance performance with her partner. How could someone with unsure steps dance around in those high heels when even I couldn’t manage it? This was the first question that came to my mind and I was quick enough to draw a parallel with life. Life is a series of unsure steps and the manner of these steps is what defines you. That partially blind girl was someone who took a leap with her steps and I felt like someone who was merely crawling.

Then came her friend request on Facebook and I was filled with even more appreciation when I saw her wall. Every picture portrayed a zeal for life, something that many of us lack. We become so blind with our petty problems that we often forget to find a solution. We were together in a Web Designing workshop and yet again she filled the room with her charm. She was more earnest than any of us and her very aura brought positivity in the room. None of those inspiring messages on Facebook can do the trick that her live example does. You may not know her name because she doesn’t need one, have a close look at your life and you’ll find her there. Christen her as you will. In my mind I like to call her HOPE.
