There'S A Storm On The Way

There'S A Storm On The Way

As she walked beside me and let out a hysterical laugh, her eyes screamed of a pain. A pain not known to many.

As she entwined her fingers with mine, clutching them tight, she breathed out a gentle sigh. A sigh that spoke of lies.

And as she looked me in the eye, which she didn’t, I knew a storm was on it’s way.

Under the opaque sheet of pretence, lay a soul, concealed away, trying to find its place in oblivion.

How I wish she would just quit trying and soak in the silence for once. But, the silence made her reflect. A reflection she’d once turned away from.

Behind the wrinkled eyes and plastered smile was a place waiting to be discovered. A place once hit by a storm. A storm waiting to breakout.

Let’s leave for the beach, I think to myself. So, she could scream it out to the sea.

Let’s ring a doorbell in our neighbourhood, twice, thrice and run away from it with no intentions of looking back.

Let’s shatter a glass to make a sound. A sound to fill the silence. A silence she’s too scared to face.

Let’s calm the storm together. A storm on the verge of breaking free.
