The T.E.A.M
The T.E.A.M
Today we went to the Moon and came back to earth! I am at a loss for words for all the support I have received from all over the world. Thank you to all who gave me the opportunity. Asante.
These are the words of Eluid Kipchoge who set an unofficial record of running a marathon under two hours in Austria. It is truly an inspiring story of what it means to achieve and exemplify that no one is limited, and things can be achieved we if have right settings. Anybody who does long distance running will agree that under normal running conditions it might be hard to replicate the timing, but it does bring in forefront how aspiration & goals can be met by creating right kind of environment for achieving success.
It is an inspiring definition of “The T.E.A.M” that aspires to achieve the impossible. Get inspired to go beyond obvious!
T: Tenacity: The quality or fact of being able to grip something firmly; grip.
E: Energy: The strength and vitality required for sustained physical or mental activity.
A: Aspiration: A hope or ambition of achieving something.
M: Management: The process of dealing with or controlling things or people.
As Eluid states ‘You cannot train alone and expect to run a fast time. There is a formula: 100% of me is nothing compared to 1% of the whole team. And that’s teamwork. That’s what I value.’ His ability to manage the team around him which consists of pacers, coaches, sports psychologists, physiotherapists, nutritionists and doctors have contributed towards his success. Talent needs support of a great plan & team.
To achieve the greatest requires planning. Every step we take in Management needs to come together alongside the team so that we can achieve our goals. One needs to believe in the plan and remain committed to it in order to make it drive a successful outcome.
Eluid states “To win is not important. To be successful is not even important. How to plan and prepare is crucial. When you plan very well and prepare very well, then success can come on the way. Then winning can come on your way.”
Aspiration creates hope and generates passion that is what Eluid presents himself to the team. It’s easier said than done but living your passion is the best choice you can make in life. Kipchoge equates being passionate with being great. When you’re doing what you love, you feel great and like you’re doing meaningful work that will make a true impact in the world.
Energy is important to drive and self the team towards the goal. Eluid believes in impossible and defies limits. It generates a karmic energy that you cannot escape if you around him & to take excellence at another level it is important to exuberate energy that creates right level of momentum around you to drive towards common goal.
Change will always create friction in moving forward and can cause disruption in energy, so we need to keep adapting. As Eluid states "one needs to become comfortable with being uncomfortable & Accept the Change". At around 30 km, a change starts to come in how you approach the next milestone in marathon. Only the best and more prepared make the cut. Maintaining right level of energy for seeing through success is important.
Eluid states ‘Only the disciplined ones in life are free. If you are undisciplined, you are a slave to your moods and your passions.’ It is important to show Tenacity to set example for the team, and to make the goal look convincing. It creates an environment of no excuses and setting new highs in life require one to show this level of tenacity and discipline. Mental fitness drives tenacity and allows you to think clearly.
The man & his T.E.A.M (Tenacity Energy Aspiration Management) did what some would say may take two lifetimes to see it. If as a team you can demonstrate Management & Aspiration with Energy & Tenacity, then there is a greater chance that you would be able to put right level of effort to increase chances for success.
