The Success
The Success
The dull and overcast day came to hinder my progress. But it couldn't stop me from carrying out my plans. I broke into the work right at half-past seven in the morning. Ahead of me was the only target - the telescope.
I had been working my fingers to the bone for the previous couple of days, and if I could continue, I could have assembled the optical instrument by today. The tube made of chart holder had already been set at the proper length to bear the lenses. Today's objective was to fix the lenses at a proper angle. And on this very day, when I required the Sun to help me, he refused. He would rarely peep in through the clouds and no sooner I saw him than he hid again. Did I worship him everyday for this? Through the theoretical calculations, I had found the approximate angle, but I needed the exact angle for the scope to work.
After some rigorous mental gymnastics, I came up with an idea. With the help of a clock and by observing the sky, I tried to find the brightest spot on the clouds and predict the position of the Sun. After a thorough examination, I figured out what seemed to be the brightest spot. I assumed it to be the Sun and started working based on it. After three quarter-hours of keeping at it with sheer precision, I could set it up with the presumed Sun. But the question remained as it is - did I find Helios then?
Probably this time he heard, felt for me, and decided to help. Through a rift, he showed up to prove if I was correct or not. And yes! He appeared from the same bright spot which I considered. All my hard work has given me the taste of the success, which I had been craving since childhood. Parents were satisfied, brother was happy. And for me? I was on the top of clouds!!!
