It was a Saturday morning and I was sleeping peacefully, but then I heard something. At first, I didn’t know what it was but then I recognized the voice. It was a bird, the bird that devoured my 2 lovely plants! It was sitting on my balcony and singing a song, which seemed more like screaming to me. It saw me looking and flew to my plant and started eating it. I tried to shoo it away from far, but it wouldn’t go, I tried to throw paper at it, but it still wouldn’t go!

I couldn’t bear it any longer. I went into the balcony and tried to hit the bird with my hand but before I even touched it bit my palm. My palm was bleeding a lot, I ran into my room and closed the balcony’s door. I thought the bird looked like a devil because of all the blood dripping off its beak and then I remembered that I was still bleeding and ran to my mom.

My mom was instructing our maid on how to make breakfast. I ran to her showing my palm, at first, she thought I was pranking her, or I spilled some paint in my room but then she took a closer look at my palm and screeched. I told her about the bird and about how it always tries to irritate me. She told me what she says every time I complain about the bird, “ignore it”, “but maa, look what it did to my palm” I said looking at my hurt. “If you really want to get rid of that bird research about it,” she said tying band-aid around my arm.

I went to my room thinking about what my mother said. I took my phone and searched for apps that can recognize birds by their voices or by photos of them. I finally found an app. I had to wait a long time for the bird to return. When the bird returned it brought a friend with it who looked just like he and both started eating my plant. I took a picture of the birds and was shocked to see the results. These birds were called the Singing Devils and I was shocked because I already had guessed half the name. The birds are endangered because they used to eat all the farmer's crops and sang in the night and never let the sleep, the farmers got irritated and killed the birds until they migrated to a new place. This is also how they got their name.

I felt bad for the birds and I felt guilty for thinking of hurting them. That’s why I decided I will let them stay and give them food every day. After a month the bird laid eggs and two hatchlings were born. The birds got used to me and became my pets.
