The Roommate
The Roommate
When Sarah moved into her new apartment, she was excited to start her new life in the city. She had just graduated from college and landed her first job, and everything seemed to be falling into place. However, as she settled into her new home, strange things began to happen.
It started with little things - a misplaced item here, a strange noise there. But as the days passed, the occurrences became more frequent and more ominous. Sarah would wake up in the middle of the night to find the room bathed in an eerie blue light, and she could hear whispering coming from the walls. She would come home from work to find her furniture rearranged, and the TV turned on to static.
At first, Sarah tried to ignore the strange happenings, chalking them up to her imagination. But as the occurrences became more frequent and more terrifying, she began to feel like she was losing her mind.
One night, as she was getting ready for bed, she felt a cold breeze pass through the room. She turned around to find her closet door open, and she saw a figure standing in the shadows. At first, she thought it was just a trick of the light, but as she stared harder, she realized that there was someone standing in her closet.
Sarah tried to scream, but no sound came out of her mouth. The figure stepped forward, revealing a face that was twisted in a grotesque smile. Sarah tried to run, but her legs wouldn't move. The figure moved closer and closer, and Sarah felt a cold hand on her shoulder.
Suddenly, the figure disappeared, and Sarah was left alone in her room, gasping for breath. She knew that she couldn't stay in the apartment any longer, but she didn't know where to go. She couldn't afford to move out, and she didn't have any family or friends nearby.
Sarah tried to go about her daily life as if nothing had happened, but she couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. Everywhere she went, she felt like someone was following her. She would hear footsteps behind her, and she could feel eyes on her back.
One day, Sarah came home from work to find that her front door was open. She cautiously walked inside, calling out for anyone who might be there. She didn't hear anything, so she assumed that it was just a fluke.
But as she walked into her bedroom, she saw that someone had written a message on her wall in what looked like blood. The message read: "I'm always watching you."
Sarah felt her blood run cold. She knew that she had to leave the apartment, no matter what it took. She started packing her bags, determined to leave that very night.
But as she was packing, she heard a knock at the door. She froze, wondering who could be there at such a late hour. She cautiously walked to the door and opened it, peering out into the darkness.
Standing on the other side of the door was a figure with a twisted smile, the same one that she had seen in her closet. Sarah tried to scream, but no sound came out of her mouth. The figure stepped forward, and Sarah knew that this was the end.
As the figure closed in on her, Sarah felt a sudden burst of energy. She kicked the figure in the stomach, causing it to stumble backwards. Sarah ran out of the apartment, not looking back.
She ran until she couldn't run anymore, until she was far away from the apartment and the figure that had haunted her. She never went back to that place again, but she could still feel the cold hand on her shoulder and the twisted smile of the figure in her nightmares.
