The owl and the pussycat were colleagues in a factory. The owl used to work in the night shifts in the factory while the pussycat worked during the day. In this way, both of them had taken great care of the factory. The factory made cakes. It was a bakery owned by a very rich human family. They employed animals to work for them because they liked to hire animals to do their work. They felt animals could be trained but human beings could not. Therefore, all the staff in their factory were animals. The owl and the pussycat were special among them because they worked in tandem and ensured that the factory worked for 24 hours.

They were fast friends. As both worked at different times, they could not enjoy each other's company. Therefore, they made it a point to spend one week with each other every three months. Each of them took leave from their employers every three months, for one week and spent time in each other's company. This went on for months and even years. Until one day, the pussycat who liked eating the cakes baked in the factory, very much, was blamed of a theft in the factory. The owl left no stone unturned to prove that the pussycat was innocent. However, his efforts bore no fruit.

Finally, the owner of the factory called in the cops. Witnesses were examined and evidences examined, to arrive at the conclusion that the pussycat was indeed the thief. The pussycat could not prove otherwise and therefore he was sent to the prison for a period of six months. Meanwhile, outside the owl was seething with anger at the factory owner for filing a case against the staff of the bakery. Actually, the pussycat was not the thief. The owl had stolen the cake because the pussycat wanted him to do it. The owl had done it out of friendship. However, when they were filing a case, the identity of the animals was kept a secret.

This was done to avoid a bad name to come to the factory. Very soon, it was proved in court that the pussycat was not the thief. It was the owl who had stolen the cake in one of his night shifts, when the supervisory staff is almost missing from the factory. The owl was sentenced to six years rigorous imprisonment. The pussycat apologized to the owl for having to face this ignominy because of her. The owl happily courted punishment without batting an eyelid. The owl was let off from prison for his good behavior and regular and diligent hard work. He was expected to find a job for himself and get married.

The owl was a divorcee and every Friday, he came to Chow patty for a walk. He walked almost five kilometers every Friday. On other days, he walked for two kilometers. The pussycat, on the other hand was very lazy. She did not like to work hard. She only did work that paid her. She was very money-minded, while the owl was very health conscious. So they made a good pair. As indicated earlier, it was soon found that the owl and the pussycat were very good friends. One of their friends, who wanted them separated, saw to it that they separated.

The owner of the factory was feeling the pinch of too many staff in the office. So he carried out a survey of his employees as to who wanted to be transferred to the head office. From among the people surveyed, the pussycat won the contest. The pussycat won the contest and was transferred to the head office, while the owl still languished in the factory. In the head office, the pussycat got all the benefits of one's own home. In this way, the factory owner separated the pair. However, now, the pussycat and the owl made a pact with each other that they would now meet every six months and enjoy one week's time with each other.

Every six months, the owl and the pussycat met in the head office and made plans for a vacation. However, in one year, they could not take their vacation. The owner's wife was having a child and the factory was also buzzing with new orders. Therefore, it was very difficult to get leave from work. Therefore, the pussycat and the owl decided not to take a vacation that year. However, the owner of the factory wanted the pussycat to take leave and therefore, he asked her to go on leave for one week. The owl on his part was very vigilant now with the pussycat gone.

One day there was a theft in the factory. The cops were called and a staff member was held. On deeper investigation, it was found that the previous evening, that staff member had had a fight with the owner of the factory. They were arguing on increments for the staff and he wanted an increment from the head office. However, the staff was not letting the factory staff and the head office staff connect with each other. Each year wages of the head office staff were increased, however, there was no change in his staff allocation. The staff member who had committed the theft was caught and remanded to judicial custody.

However, the staff member had good support from his colleagues and he could easily walk free. All the witnesses testified in his favor and he was proved innocent. However, the pussycat was found guilty. This time the pussycat had done it for the owl to make it even Stevens. The pussy was sentenced to six months rigorous imprisonment for stealing. The owner of the factory appointed a new manager to oversee the staff. He was a rough and tough tiger who gave no thought to the feelings of other animals. He always did what was right, without caring for feelings and friendship.

He did not have any friends and was a loner. However, within three months of appointment, he became the favorite of the owners. Whatever he said was believed by the owner. The owl and the pussycat saw that life was becoming difficult for them with the arrival of the new manager. Therefore, they decided to find out a new job. When the owner heard this, he did not allow any of them to go. He increased their salaries and asked them to stay in their jobs. This was because he had come to know that the owl and the pussycat were fast friends he could trust them more than the factory manager, the tiger.

All is well that ends well. Finally, there was a big party on the bakery's twenty-fifth anniversary. The owner gave all the staff members gifts and one gold coin each to commemorate the occasion. Everyone returned home rich and happy. The staff promised their support to the bakery for twenty-five more years and went home happy.
