The Mirror
The Mirror
She took a few moments to look in the mirror. It was totally strange. She looks in the same mirror every day. Maybe for a short period of time. She was, however, startled to discover that she has never observed what she sees in the mirror. Life was too hectic for her to take the time to gaze in the mirror. Or perhaps she doesn't want to look. The picture she saw in the mirror stayed with her for a long time. That had been bothering her all day. She closed her eyes and peered into the mirror inside her.
She saw a different image. Smiling, young, energized and joyful. She was horrified to see the second image. This was the image she saw in the morning. The dry skin, the dark circles, the fake smile with gaps between the teeth and tired. She tried to convince her thoughts. She is now in her thirties. How will someone look the same in her twenties and thirties? But is it actually the age?
She used to spend a lot of time in front of the mirror before. The situation has now changed. She tries to avoid looking into the mirror whenever possible. May be she doesn't want to realize that her dress was a little messy and ,her pants didn't match her top. Or her stomach was bulging outside. Yes, she has changed, from a pleasant smiling young lady to a responsible woman. She was happy with her life. So the mirror can't make a difference. She smiled quietly inside keeping all anxieties aside.
But then, out from nowhere, another image popped in her mirror. She looked deep into it. It was not her. She was sure. In fact, it was extremely similar to what she had seen earlier in the day. Slowly the image became clearer. Yes. It was her MOM. Tears fill up in her eyes. There stands the answers to a lot of questions.
The mirrors change.
The people who looks into it change.
But the images remain the same.
