The Master & The Disciple
The Master & The Disciple
Finally,
Taking one last step,
I reached the top of the mountain
And found him there -
Sitting in his typical nonchalant manner
Just as in my dreams of thousand nights
Sitting there with his eyes closed -
Humble and modest, old and frail
Yet undoubtedly elegant and serene.
“MASTER!”
I bowed and he smiled,
A shiver ran through my being
As I felt his mind’s eye penetrating my soul
-my innermost core.
Overwhelmed, I sat down,
And closed my eyes,
Still able to see him inside my mind.
“I know your query” his voice boomed,
“Your soul is thirsty
You seek the truth,
So here is the truth -
Just listen to the secret sound,
The real sound of silence, which is inside you
And you will find the truth
You are the truth...
I could see/ sense his face
Breaking into a beatific smile
“All know that the drop merges into the ocean,
But few know that the ocean merges into the drop.”
Shocked, I opened my eyes
He was gone.
With a beatific smile of my own
I silently stood up and turned around
To take the first step
In my journey towards self-realization!
