Once upon a time, I was walking around after a long flight from India on a Saturday evening. It was my first night in New York and was reminiscing about my college days. I thought to myself about how time goes on without a pause and the way a part of your life becomes a memory. I had rented an apartment in NYC, and my neighbor was a 26 year old man named Harry. Being 25 myself, I felt quite relieved by this fact. He worked at an advertising company and had being in New York since he was 19. I asked him to accompany me on the walk but he had work to do. I didn’t know much of the place but still wanted to go outside.

While I was recollecting all my thoughts, I came past a giant mansion. It looked like a haunted house. It was the first time I was seeing it. Something about it made me stare at it for quite long which made it quite spooky. It had this big gate guarding it and a beautiful garden inside. It was in the middle of nowhere and that is when I realized that I had come too far. The house looked totally abandoned so I tried to go in but the gate was locked. I decided to go back to my apartment and thought of coming with Harry, the next day.

As I was changing into my night clothes, I saw something behind the curtains through the mirror. I went and checked and absolutely no sign of a thing was there. I had a salad and went to bed. The light of my laptop screen playing episode 22 of friends, was the only source of light in my room. I turned to the other side and saw the same kind of thing behind the curtain. I chose to ignore it. I noticed my eyes closing as the sound from the laptop slowly fades. I woke up in horror . It was 3am. The paranormal thing appears again behind the curtain. I've heard a lot about ghosts and scary faces, but experiencing was never my desire. i shook it off and convinced myself that once I get used to staying here, I'll be fine.

Next day, I went to Harry’s and told him about his mansion that I saw. He thought I had dreamt it. Obviously, I took him to see the property. It took me some time to figure out the way, but I finally reached the place, or so I had thought. I was so sure that it was the place, but there was no mansion, just endless heaps of grass.
