The Invisible Wish

The Invisible Wish

Because I was a kid, just a few years ago, I was wrapped in the best cloak of invisibility. Blissful ignorance and sweet love dripped from it. It was my own protective cocoon from the materialistic world and its katzenjammer. And then, suddenly, one fine day I was deemed old enough for my cocoon to be broken and to face the painful reality of life. This super power of being invisible would restore my cocoon of innocence.

For once, I would be able to escape the busy life, overflowing with responsibilities. I would finally taste the heavenly experience of not being noticed by anyone. I would relish my emancipation in The Library of Congress amidst books and the assuring caress that I find in their pages for days on end without any constraints. Rejuvenated with bibliosmia I would set out to bring about the small changes that will one day make my country a force to be reckoned with.

Often stopped short of voicing out, much less implementing, my ideas of change as I have a tiny voice and tiny hands that wouldn’t make any difference, I would be free to do as I wished, unfettered by the laws and prejudices of the society.

Lastly, I would go crazy, make sense, and be lost and found in the lap of the cosmos like a free bird.
