One day, little Kishore held his grandma's hand and dragged her to the local movie theatre, not far away from their house. He had stowed away some money secretly to take his old grandmother to the movies. She lived a lonely life after his grandfather passed away some years ago. He was an avid movie-goer. He and grandma would watch all newly released movies and discuss the pros and cons. He found it very amusing. He had heard from his grandma, how grandpa would disguise her as a male companion and take her on his bicycle to watch movies in the local theatre, which was nothing but a ramshackle shed. Women going to movies was unheard of in his village in those days. Women generally kept to the home and hearth and never ventured out of their homes. Now, nobody at home asked grandma if she wanted to go to a movie. It was an unspoken rule that she couldn't do that now. Today, Kishore found the situation conducive and whisked her off to the theatre. She was surprised but full of enthusiasm. She watched the movie intensely. The hero after a long-drawn battle with his oppressors, vanquished them and led his son to safety, proclaiming that education alone can free the oppressed from bondage. Grandma could not but nod assent to it. She reiterated the same to Kishore, who promised to study hard and leave no stone unturned in his quest for a meaningful education. Let us wish him good luck in his quest.
