THE GENIE IN THE LAMP

I woke up in the morning with eyes wide open just to realize I was in a dream. Unsure of how long I have been sleeping, I wanted to start my life afresh , anew with awareness of every thought and breath I lived in and not going into slumber again. I lived an unrighteous life, lied many a lies , hurt people in words , in my actions, I was inconsiderate …ahhhh it hurts me to inhabit in this cage with all my misdeeds. “Take me out of this hell “ I cried and cried to an unanswered heed of call.

When I woke up again, it was another world. The people I hated the most were now my family members. My spouse, my children, my parents and some in the form of the neighbors. The rabbit I had killed now became our pet dog. My family hated me just the way I hated them once in my previous dream. No matter what I did I was never privy to their love. I had all riches , very successful , all looked up to me as an inspiration but deep within I was suffering all alone. I choose to forgive them all, do only good to all without any expectations or remorse. It still felt like am in a cage , stuck and captivated . I cried again this time louder “ set me free, set me free …….take me out from here”

There again, I woke up to another world, this time a lot different than before. Same people from my previous dream but some had gone and some were my besties who would give their life for me. This seemed like a better world. I was loved by many except few. It occurred to me that I had not kept my word with some of them in my previous dream, I was not righteous yet! Ohh the righteousness was not in physical deeds alone, it were also at emotional and mental levels. My thoughts were not pure. Oh no ! not again……..am yet to learn , am to work on many things. I thanked my blessings and worked at all levels. I felt good inside and yet I felt stuck and captivated in the same cage . I cried out again even louder “Set me free , set me free…..open the door, set me free”

I woke up to several new worlds only to realize I have been in dream all through out working on my many flaws, perfecting in each dream. A comprehension I acquired after several dreams was that every time I woke up there were lesser people who I was unhappy with. Whoever , I had forgiven and learnt my life lessons with they had disappeared . Instead of crying for help, I had now gained an understanding of interacting with the person on another side of the cage I lived in, who knew everything and was waiting for me to wake up from my dreams every time.

Finally came a time when I woke up all alone, no more people, no more situations, just me and door that was the gateway of freedom from the cage I have always been captivated in. Yes I was the Genie in the lamp until this man freed me . I could now meet the one on other side who was guiding me, teaching me, watching me & guarding me. I smiled like never before, opened the door to a bright light. There was only light, no words and there stood the man I awaited to meet.

As I walked ahead a revelation struck as I saw “ It was me waiting for me to be home!”
