The Evil Grin

The Evil Grin

I was standing in front of the prohibited room’s door. I had tried to enter the room many times but all in vain, I was always disturbed by someone either mom or dad. But today was different because there was nobody in the house except me. Dad’s friend had some problems, so he went to his friend’s house with mom.

I got the much-needed opportunity to try my luck in entering the forbidden room.

But I remembered dad's warning before leaving.

”Do not enter the room.” He bellowed as he stepped out of the house.

A sudden panic rose, I could feel my hair standing. Maybe he was just trying to scare me so that I do not open the door, I thought. After a minute, I regained my strength and curiosity to open the door. I turned the knob and let the door open with a creek.

I tiptoed into the room. The room was dark and gloomy; the only light was from the corridor. Slowly, my eyes got adjusted to the dark and I started looking around.

The room was filled with weird and scary voodoo dolls, clown masks, ancient pieces of armory and swords and much more weird stuff. I never thought that dad would be collecting these weird and oriental trashes.

After another minute of exploration, something caught my eyes. At the corner of the room, a wooden doll was sitting inside a box with a glass front door. The doll had beautiful stormy blue eyes with red pointed cheeks. She had put on a beautiful blue dress. She had brown hair and pink lips. She looked strikingly beautiful but sinister at some time.

In the glass, it was written in bold letters

“POSITIVELY, DO NOT OPEN”

The next few seconds’ curiosity took the better off me and I slowly opened the glass door. For the first ten seconds nothing happened, I stared at the doll, the doll stared back at me but nothing unusual happened as was expected by me.

Very funny dad, I thought and turned to leave the room. As I turned to leave the room, I felt somebody was moving behind my back. Well, that was weird nobody was in the house except for me. I turned and saw nobody was there in the wooden glass box, panic rose in me and I was afraid, I wanted to run-hide somewhere.

Reluctantly, I asked myself a question, “Where is she?”. At the same time, my phone made a buzz. I got a message from someone -I don’t know- ‘Sabrina’ written ‘I am everywhere’. I sprinted for the door but it got closed and was locked.

Suddenly, I felt someone was squeezing my neck. I turned and it was Sabrina giving me one of her evil grins, her clutch got tighter on my neck every second.

I got up with sweat all over my body and hearing my mother scream from the kitchen trying to wake me up. I looked at my watch, 7 am, “Already up”, I screamed back at her.

Bad dream, I thought and got up from my bed. I brushed, took a shower, dressed up and was about to leave for breakfast something caught my eyes.

Sitting on the chair near my study table was ‘Sabrina’, giving me an evil grin.
