I'd been waiting...it'd been almost ten days. We were still avoiding each other. He was still not ready to talk to me. Was I wrong to confess my feelings to him? If he really didn't have feelings for me then shouldn't he reject me on the face? How long can I pretend to be just friends with someone I really like?

My mind raced on with thoughts. The anticipation made me grow crazy. Everyday felt like a million years. It was like I was stuck in an eternal loop that nobody could get me out of.

Until one day, while I was crossing the road, someone called out my name. My mind froze, my heart started pounding against my chest. I knew that voice...

I turned around to find his eyes gazing on me. There was something different about him...about his eyes. They gazed on me sincerely as if they were trying to tell me something. He looked like he was in uncertainty as if he was about to do something which he may later regret.

I midway left the road and walked up to him. My heart raced with the thought he was finally ready to talk. Instead he started to search for something in his bag which kinda baffled me. He took out a book which he'd borrowed from me earlier and gave it to me. I stood in astonishment, my mind still trying to process what just happened while he uttered a "Thank you" and walked away without meeting my eyes.

I crossed the road carrying the book in my hands. I turned around to look at him one last time. There he was, looking at me from afar with dull and gloomy eyes. Did he just end things? Did he just end our friendship?!

I looked for a note or something in the book but I couldn't find any. The only thing there was, was a blank page which I'd simply kept months ago but I didn't bother checking that. I was pretty sure that he wouldn't walk away just like that. There must be something, his eyes were sincere, they wouldn't lie...would they?

A week went by, nothing happened. I'd begun to hate him. How could he just leave like that?

My eyes landed upon the book lying on the shelf by itself. My gut told me to check it one last time. I flipped through the pages expecting to find nothing. Hope was withering away when suddenly the blank page slipped out. It didn't seem like anything at first until I opened it and tossed it backward. Every inch of my heart started breaking away when my eyes landed on those seven words.

A storm of tears raged my eyes. I was right. It was the end after all. He never gave me an answer. He just ended our friendship. He simply left...he left me with a goodbye note, "Thank you for the book and everything"...
