Poem

“We are each other's harvest; we are each other's business; we are each other's magnitude and bond.”

Gwendolyn Brooks

I am pained by the current state of our polity we are unashamedly digging deeper into despair and seem to not care.

Our noses have stopped smelling the conspiracies, we have become powerless and they have become more powerful.

Our eyes can no longer see beyond the obvious. Beauty is beyond us.

Our ears enjoy the noise and cannot hear silence

Our thoughts and thinking are outsourced to the powerful. The powerful have changed means to ends and we bow to them helplessly. They pass on fire to us we burn and pass on the fire further. We relish the petty battles amongst ourselves.

Empathy is lost to our fears and delusions.

The forces of light and darkness pull us towards them we have to make the choice however our choices are reactions and automated. A good choice is made out of real awareness. For real awareness we have reconnect with our hearts, others and nature. Re-imagine the joys of curiosity, observation and discovery. When we are aware we will discover Joy, Beauty and Happiness. Our power will increase and their power will reduce.

The power struggle will never end we cannot endure stillness forever. We will continue to have differences we cannot imagine if we all were the same. We have to pull harder in this eternal tug of war!

Story

The current times are full of strife, anger and confusion. The people in power the haves are using these conditions to enrich themselves. The narratives are set to divide people and lead them into more darkness.

Most of our history was about tribes and communities. We needed each other to thrive. Modern times have given individual more power over themselves. We have institutions and frameworks especially in urban areas where individuals can stay alone and do well.

When we are alone we do not care about the community, we think only about ourselves and our families. We use money and wealth to get everything including security.

When we are alone we are also prone to be misinformed. When we are together we get a platform to play with our thoughts and challenge others ideas. This is a safe environment where we can display our apprehensions and also provide emotional support to others.

People in urban areas also miss nature and its soothing effects. Nature both nurtures and teaches us diversity and lessons on managing strife. Trees, Flowers, animals, water, stars and birds delight us they being the most visible parts of our universe. The Urban souls miss these. Urban souls are also always on the hedonic treadmill to make ends meet or satisfy their never ending wants. The sorely miss contentment.

Books, Nature and groups are our only way to slow down in our lives and rediscover alternative stories of peace and calm. Hope each one of us gets a chance to check out the other interesting narratives in our majestic universe.
