TAKING CARE

TAKING CARE

On reading the title one may think whose care we have to take and why? The answer to this question is in my story. I was lying on my couch and was gazing at the sky. Suddenly, I saw a sparrow on my window’s grill chirping. Suddenly it occurred to me that we have taken our beautiful environment for granted. They give us so much but what do we do?? We humans are sometimes so greedy that we forget what our nature has given to us. We just spoil our nature by wasting the provisions given to us by them. We are spoiling our own mother EARTH. She is the very reason of our existence. The most important thing which nature gives us is air and water. Do we really take care of it?? OR do we just waste it and pollute it?? We pollute it and sometimes waste it so much that it might not even exist for future generations. We all may be aware of the MINAMATA DISEASE which was first found in Japan. But do you know how it took place?? There was a river and near to it there was a factory. All the harmful toxic chemicals were released into that river. The fish staying in that river ate those chemicals and when these fish were eaten by the local people of that area it resulted in mercury poisoning. We humans are the only reason for harming our own selves. We have to protect our mother EARTH for the future generations to exist otherwise we humans would also be like the dinosaur dynasty which existed a long time ago. We even pollute the air by driving cars and releasing harmful gases into it. If one day, we suddenly wake up and find our own houses polluted and the garbage all around, would we like it? I don’t think that we would like it. Same is our mother Earth. We should understand that earth is our own house. So why are we throwing garbage on the streets and not in the dustbins? Why are we polluting our own houses? The result of this may not harm us now but would definitely harm our future generations. India is the 2nd largest populated country and so it would be more polluted but the least we as a good citizen could at least do is stop polluting our environment. We are taught in school that the color of water is blue but when we go to coastal areas is it really blue? No, it is not. Why? The reason is us. The main reason is the greediness of humans. I might write pages and pages, but it is important how much we follow it. ‘You must be the change you wish to see in the world’ said Mahatma Gandhi. Let's just take the initiative and then we’ll see everyone will follow our lead. We all are not environmentalists and we for taking care of our environment don't even need such degrees. Let's take an oath to protect our environment till we don’t die. Let’s not take an undue advantage of our mother earth.

In the end I would like to say that if you read this and even bring a little bit of change in your lifestyle and be protective about the environment, then not only me but also the environment will be grateful to you.
