“It’s been 14 days since we came out of that horrid place. Can you please leave us alone? How many more questions are you going to ask?”

Caroline finally broke down. She didn’t want to deal with all of this anymore. She didn’t want to cry infront of the national television but the thought of reliving those dreadful memories made her weak.

It’s been days since she had a good night’s sleep. Darkness scares her to the point that she can’t sleep alone anymore and everyone wants her to recount the tragedy the she and her friends went through.

“I don’t even know why we are here. The police calls us everyday, the media doesn’t leave us, IT WASN’T OUR FRICKING FAULT THAT THE BUILDING COLLAPSED!!”

“Calm down, Caroline.”

Rema empathized with her friend. She knows better than anyone why Caroline is so riled up because she is going through the same. They were together that night along with 3 more of her colleagues

Five of them went inside the newly constructed office building to film their night club activity and only four came out.

They weren’t allowed inside because the building had just been constructed and still needed approval to be open to the public but they went anyway. It was the perfect location to film the movie project that their club was working on. They didn’t concieve the building would collapse and all of them would be stuck under the debris for twelve days.

We luckily had space to breathe and Richard had snacks that he was carrying so we could get by for a few days ”

“How did you all relieve yourself?”

“We found a hole that we designated as the bathroom and everybody took turns. We could also find a spot where water leaked due to the rain.”

“Where were your phones? Only one of you had theirs on them.”

Caroline slowly shifted her focus to Rema.

“Rema was the only one that carried the phone, the rest had to keep their phones outside the room because it’s a club rule to never carry mobiles while engaging in club activities and Rema sneaked it in. That’s how we called for the rescue which by the way took ten whole days.”

“How do you both feel about your friend Rose?”

“Can we please stop now?”

Caroline got up from her seat. Rose was the only one amongst them that couldn’t make it out. While the rest of the surviviors were still in coma. It was only her and Rema.

Caroline was slowly escorted out along with Rema. They were being treated as criminals just because one person couldn’t survive.

Once again they were at the police station. Caroline couldn’t help but notice Rema chewing her nails once again. This was never a habit of hers but ever since they were rescued she’s been doing this nonstop.

“Ahem, we didn’t want to keep you here either but we were waiting for the PostMortem results and they’ll be out any minute. So please be patient.”

“It was too dark for us to even see each other let alone recognize someone, we don’t know what happened to Rose in there and we are tired.”

It was the first time Rema spoke that much during the investigation. She was diagnosed with PTSD and has held herself back from talking uptil now.

“We know, and we are going to leave you in a minute.”

Suddenly a short statured man came hurriedly towards the officer and beckoned him inside.

“Caroline, don’t worry we did nothing wrong.”

“ I know Rema but I want to go home.”

“I know.”

A few minutes later the officer came out with a grim expression on his face. He briefly stopped and observed the faces of the women sitting infront of him.

Both were dressed in blue and both had an untidy appearance about them. Their eyes seems to have lost focus. Nothing less you would expect from the survivors of such a horrid disaster.

But the report had just come out and things seem to have taken a turn for the worse. The whole investigation now has taken a whole new direction.

“You’ll both be staying here for a lot longer now, ladies. Get yourself accustomed.”

The reports revealed that Rose’s dead body had bitemarks and missing organs and he needed some explanation.

Major explanations.

He once again looked at the untidy state of the women in front of him and for the first time he saw no survivors. Just suspects.
