Unhappy, vexed, depressed?. It was hard for John to process the emotions at this juncture. Whatever seemed possible appeared impossible at hand. Covered with the mist of feather dust, he looked at his conure seated on the shoulder.

“Kee Kee”, it shouted with its puzzled eyes going all over him. Dusting down the flakes he looked at Anna who was busy staring at the maps. Finding a way through the woods to the castle that was mentioned in the diary.

Standing stranded out of nowhere wasn’t possibly a great evening. Trying to find something to get out of the mess, he pressed the alarm buzzer in his pocket. “Preem preem” went off the alarm startling Anna and his conure. The bird started flapping its wings frantically in bewilderment. Anna dropped the maps onto the ground due to panic.

John felt it was wrong to have disobeyed his parent’s warning. They had warned him not to go to the woods when the sky turned mellow red. He thought it was the usual creep story that lingered around every place. He closed his eyes hoping everything would be fine scratching the bird’s head.

As he opened his eyes he found himself seated in his bedroom. Anna was there opposite him seated on the couch. “It’s true what they say, you never know how well you really know somebody”, Anna said as she disappeared into thin air.

The very next day as he woke up his parents said,” Don’t go to the woods when the sky turned mellow red”. He looked at them snd smiled as he knew what would happen next. He looked at the bird which nodded its head in acceptance.
