He looked proudly at the mirror and thought that it had replied. He being a down to earth, humble writer, quickly realized that it was his ego which was being assertive and claiming that he was the best writer. Unfortunately, unlike the mirror, which reflects a true image of the object, the image reflected by the story mirror is not easy to perceive. Then again, he was perplexed as to how to dispassionately and objectively assess where his writings stand? There can be no comparison between the writers. Each has his/her own style. What role does the story mirror play in ascertaining the quality of a writer’s work? 

The writer made his own interpretation. The editors are the sensors of the story mirror. Based on their criteria they give a score. It is the writers responsibility to understand and objectively assess his work based on the scores. A good piece of work will depend on the way the story opens, its length and way it is gripping, with suspense held till the climax and many more things.

The response and opinion of the readers is also an indicator of the quality of the work. Finally, any work that comes down from the depths of the writers heart touches both the readers and the editors.
