Solitude

Solitude

168

Between the ocean and the mountains. .my preference has always been the mountains. But tonight I realized that the roaring sea has not failed to charm me.

Tonight as I was preparing to go to bed and going through my daily ritual of a few minutes of silence ..calming down as I call it.....suddenly I could hear the crashing of waves, the murmuring of the seas and could smell the briny and humid breeze... I opened my eyes as hastily as I could only to find myself in the familiar home surroundings ....so what exactly happened to me.??????......those few minutes of silence unlocked a corner in me.......where unknowingly I had kept the roaring ocean

To quote Wordsworth here

For oft, when in my couch I lie

In a vacant or pensive mood,

They flash upon that inward eye

Which is the bliss of solitude;

And then my heart with pleasure fills

And dances with the daffodils (in my case waves)

I have this habit of recording and keeping the various sounds of nature ...and listening to them in leisure. .but tonight I will just close my eyes and the sound of the waves will put me to sleep......slowly... I will drift ...
