Sia And Her Wishes

She was sitting on the stairs with candies in her hands which meant everything to her, when Sia heard the footsteps of someone approaching. She hid the candies in the palms of her hands clasping on to them very tightly when she heard a man calling for her, "Sia, where are you? It is time for you to go home. Come dear."

And she stood up immediately at his words feeling happy for she will now be having a new family, and that she won't be an orphan anymore.

She walked out of the orphanage bidding her goodbye, with a heavy lump in her throat, to her friends with tears rolling down her cheeks at the joy of finding a new family and the pain of being parted from the first and the only family she has ever had. She hoped that someday, some families will come and take the others as well just like her and make them a part of their family.

The man said she would get everything that she ever wanted and her little eyes started dreaming of a better life for the first time. He took her to some place away from the orphanage.

She sat there on a bench under a tree, outside a building and the father went in asking her to wait for him.

She had her eyes at the building gate while her mind still pondered upon the words that continued to echo , that she would get everything she ever wanted and how wonderful life is going to be very soon. While she sat there waiting for her new father, when she saw a lady approaching her. The lady addressed her by the name and asked her to accompany her inside to her father. Sia immediately followed the lady and on going in she saw a bunch of girls of her age and some older women. She thought they may the mothers of the girls and wondered who amongst them is her mother.

The mother who adopted her and would love her for the rest of her life endlessly.

But soon after a quick scan of the hall, she realised that her father was nowhere to be seen. She asked the lady the whereabouts of her father and before she could reply, another lady came shouting towards her. She felt terrified at such an unexpected gesture.

She stood there quietly, unaware of what was happening and the reason the lady was shouting at her.

Her innocent mind started thinking about the candies in her pockets, wondering if that was the reason for the anger of the lady, and if the candies will be taken away from her.

And before she could figure out any of it, she was carried with her small bag of clothes to a room with dim red lights hurting her eyes as she looked into the room where another girl of almost the same age as hers, lied on the bed, exhausted, with tears rolling down her eyes which she didn't even bother to
