Second Chance

Life always gives us a second chance.

Aisha a good college friend and neighbour always dreamt of having a happily married life with a perfect man just like any bollywood movie....Intellect, good sense of humour, trustworthy, compassionate, loving father to the kids, honest and the list can go on and on. These days, I guess that’s the basic any girl looks for in a life partner, which unfortunately doesn’t really make any sense after marriage but sets in too late. However, knowing Aisha I always wished the best for her.

It was in college days, that Nitin, a friend in our group approached Aisha for marriage. Knowing the families and each other for the past decade the couple decided to give it a shot ...and then began their courtship. Long drives, movies, dinners, the I Love you messages and all that you can think of ...All was going well and after a year they decided to tie the knot. The families were ecstatic and delighted with the decision made by the couple.

Marriage preparations began...Starting from the venue, invitation cards, photographer, caterers, bridal coutour, list of invitees, live band, cake, floral decoration ...Oh my, the list is never ending..I can imagine what Aisha and Nitin must have been through. We all were given our duties as friends and were always around.

By the way forgot to mention, though they were deeply in love, they came from different backgrounds. Aisha from a fun loving and easy going Goan family and Nitin from a conservative Keralite family. However, Aisha had accepted the reality, considering the love Nitin showered on her – so called “Unconditional Love”. The customs, traditions, eating habits, rituals and a whole lot of things were sinking into Aisha.

It was all fine for 2-3 years, until we heard that Nitin was promoted and had to move to a different City. It was hard to bid Farewell to this lovely couple, since we had created memories to cherish and hard to let go. Aisha always called me to keep me posted about her life in an unknown City. All was going good, until Nitin decided to quit his Job and join a Business his Ex Bosses where into. Nitin convinced Aisha and they took the decision. Aisha wasn’t working then and regrets the decision now.

After this hasty and irrational decision, the World turned upside down for them. Business didn’t do that well. Things were affecting their relationship. It was hard to survive with both of them not working. They were struggling to get out of the mistake but things got worst with the repayment of the loans which were taken to start the business. It become difficult to survive until Nitin decided to move abroad to earn for survival.

Considering the long distance relationship, Aisha realised the disconnect between the two. There were no calls and in this day and age it is very easy to connect with anyone in any part of the World. So technical problems should have never come in the way, however they hardly spoke or even managed a video call. Aisha noticed it would not work like this and insisted that Nitin come back because it wasn’t making any sense and things were not getting any better financially. However, Nitin was adamant and didn’t want to come back. Their love had faded for one another and it was time for them to decide. That’s when Aisha decided to separate. It was a tough decision but the only decision because it was ruining both their lives. Finally, the divorce has been initiated on mutual consent.

These years have made Aisha a confident, tough, career oriented, practical and high spirited person, which is commendable. Aisha called me the other day and had to share something with me, so we decided to meet over coffee at one of our favourite joints. That’s when she narrated about Arun... you must be wondering who is this now. Well once the divorce was filled for, Aisha pondered about her life and decided to settle down and have a family like any girl and so registered on one of the matrimonial sites.

It was just the 3^rd or 4^th day after registration that she received a call from a person named Arun. Sounded really nice with a Keralite accent and Surname, However since she was out with friends that Sunday night, she couldn’t have a conversation. Although a little sceptical about the Surname and accent, which reminds her of the past. Once home after the dinner, she decided to call Arun and was surprised by the way they connected. They started speaking daily and were very transparent with each other about their past. Arun is very much like Nitin – Intellect, confident, loving, compassionate and not to forget his hot temper. They both shared similar likings – Playing the guitar, going on long drives, listening to music, travelling, watching movies, well organised and some more ...these traits of Arun always reminded her of Nitin, which petrifies her and is not sure what she is getting into because no one would want to repeat the same mistake once again.

Listening to her speak about Arun, I realised that they really loved each other selflessly. Aisha is always reminded about Nitin when she is around with Arun. But this is where she can actually make it happen because she knows what is coming next and how to handle the situation. This is Clearly a Second Chance for Aisha to make things happen ... It’s all a part of God’s plan that they both met. Better than meeting a complete stranger, it is always good to meet someone whom you can work with. Aisha too agreed with the same and had decided to get into a serious relationship.

After a week I get a call from Aisha and she announced that she is getting married in the near future. She was delighted that she got a Second Chance.

We all get a Second Chance in life.... just that we got to grab it at the right time...
