Satyabrata Dam- The Most Adventurous Man Of The World
Satyabrata Dam- The Most Adventurous Man Of The World
If you want to know what adventure actually means, you must know him. He is Satyabrata Dam. To quote Satyabrata-“Pure happiness is usually achieved only after suffering through some great hardships.”
Satyabrata calls himself a die-hard globetrotter, adventure seeker and an adrenalin junkie
who is passionate about expedition and mountaineering. Though most of us consider mountaineering as adventurous and exploratory, there is much more to it. This sport is really dangerous, extremely aggressive and downright exhausting. When the weather conditions go bad, the nature becomes inconsiderate and merciless. You face maze of pressure ridge, blinding blizzards and high probability of trapping in hazards. Moreover, not only you are challenged to prove your physical and mental balance every now and then, but also you get to see death with your very own eyes as it surpasses you each time. There is no denying the fact that such experiences are unparalleled since even small mistakes prove to be unforgiving.
Satyabrata Dam served navy as a Submarine Commander for over 22 years after which he took voluntary retirement. He retired in 2010 for the sake of his passion for travelling, pursuing extreme sports, reaching out to places that are still not discovered and not seen in the map. Not only this, he also loved to let the world know of what he saw and experienced, so he would pen down or photograph it for the masses to k
now about the thrill and rich experience he had gone through.
Satyabrata Dam has accomplished almost all the impossibilities (in last 35years) and his endeavours have given him an extreme sense of satisfaction. Some of his great achievements that I think are worth mentioning are here:
- He has been a triumphant in climbing all the seven highest summits (including Mt. Everest) of all the 7 continents.
- He is one out of the three conquerors in the world to touch the second highest peaks of 5 continents.
- Visited most dangerous and life threatening North and South poles and Greenland ice cap and skied there in rarefied atmosphere and faced problems like lack of pressure.
- Has physically been to 146 countries and trekked over gruelling 350 peaks worldwide.
- Walked the entire length of Africa right from Tunisia to South Africa and also crossed the ancient Silk Route starting from Mongolia to Istanbul.
Well, talking about Satyabrata Dam is in itself highly motivating and more seems to be less. It is his sheer passion that makes him stand out of the common crowd. He loves challenges, is not afraid of arduous and gruelling attacks of time and is only charmed by treacherously exhaustive tasks.
Lessons to learn:
Follow your dreams and don’t just love them, be passionate about them...Success is sure to reach out to you.
