Run and the 'Rann' of Life
Run and the 'Rann' of Life
Spikes and Sprint- both were my life.
Class IX, and consecutively the best athlete for three years. I dreamt of being P.T.Usha. The dream did not seem too far away when I got my first sprint spikes. Now my dream was not only my dream, but it had become my father’s dream as well.
Until the 12th standard, I retained my position and his dream. People started calling me P.T.Usha. It was glorifying. I entered college and this time, I thought, ‘Dilli door Nahi hai’. First-year college and I won accolades, but later years of college were books/lab/study/friends/fun, etc.
Somehow, the P.T. Usha in me was lost. Years passed, and priorities changed. Career and family became my duty but still, sports charge me up. Papa is no more, the spikes are lost; his sprinting queen is now the Queen of the house. Spikes made me learn the grip to the ground while sprinting, and that was the first lesson I learned – the stronger the bond is with the earth, the greater is your depth. I owe it to you, Papa.
