Rise And Shine

“This is bizarre. You cannot make other people let you down Cathy. This is your life. You are the constitution of your life. Don’t let others alter the rules of your life. Wake up Cathy….. Wake up”

A mild wind tickled her feet. She woke up suddenly, stared at the darkness. Her eye bag was still bulging. Her pillow was still wet. The sound from her dream echoed in her ears.

The last day was quite long for Cathy. She has been stamped as a ‘woman without any voice’ since she started her new job in a reputed company. When she joined the company, she had many adaptability issues, which was exacerbated by the demise of her close friend. During the initial days, she did not speak much. But her silence was taken into an advantage by her teammates. Everything was new to her. The external environment was constantly in a battle with her internal environment. Many a times she thought of resigning her job, but her family issues mandated her to continue in the job.

Cathy is a very talented girl. But she never had confidence in herself. We cannot make the world accept you until and unless we accept ourselves the way we are. The last day was a much awaited day for Cathy. Till yesterday, she used to work for all the other teammates just like a donkey. At the end of the day, she was left with her own assignments to be done. So even if she reached her hostel, she had to work for five, six hours. The last day she had an opportunity to present a demo of a new project she was working on, for the past 6 months. When the Project leader assigned her to give the demo, all the jealousy eyes staggered her with looks. Now you can imagine what would have happened yesterday?? All her efforts for the demo was dusted by one of her jealousy teammates.

It is time for her to revert. She wants to rise again as a phoenix bird. For the first time in her life, she felt the spirit of confidence. No one can defeat her from today on. The next morning welcomed her with a positive bliss. She ‘dressed up’ like a real strong woman. The way you dress, speak, walk, all of these can improve your confidence. She devised her own ways to motivate her. She started saying ‘NO’ from that day onwards. That was just the beginning. Do you know where she is now?? She started her own company, successfully leading her life.

Look around you. There will be many Cathys within and around you. The day one realizes ones true potential, no forces on earth can chain their legs. If you are a Cathy, it is time for you to wake up. Don’t let anyone measure your capabilities. You should be your master. The only thing you should be afraid of, is about your inhibitions. Find your own ‘hook’, throw it into the right position on the river where you get numerous fishes.
