There was a boy in primary school from a fairly middle-class family ina small town. His family was quite big. He was the youngest kid of the parent. Appearances can be deceptive. He lookedthe very common boy in his activities. He wasn’t so serious about his study, but he was very sincere in going to the school. Generall,y he would complete his homework in school itself either on the same orthe next day in his spare time. He would use his spare time in only playing. He was supposed to be naughty and mischievous in class. There was a girl with curly hair and light blackish colour in his class. She used to leave in the same sub-town after a few rows from his home. They would go to school together on foot many times as school was at hair’s breadth. They had a good friendship with each other. He liked her as other friends. She was also comfortable with him. Her face as well as figures were photographed in his brain permanently as a remarkable figure. Unfortunately, he had to go with his married elder brother for further education after primary education in another town. She went to the girl's high school in the same town. Though they get segregated, but they would meet with each other on many occasions. she used to smile at him whenever they met. But out of sight, out of mind. But she was still in his mind.

He came back to his native place after a few years. Meanwhile, there was a classmate of his sister who was junior to him and studying in the girl high school with his sister. She would come to his home frequently. Her face and figure also Resembled his old girlfriend. Therefore he had a natural affinity toward her. He liked her like his old friend. She had also kept good contact with him.

When he passed his tenth board examination, he was again with her old friend in the same class for doing the twelfth board examination. Since they had an old friendship, they were good friends there too. Both of them were very serious about their study that time. It would be the turning point at the crossed road of their life.

As soon as they passed their twelfth board examination, they again got separated for their higher education. She went to her elder brother in the city. He was at a district-level science college which was nearest to his native place. It was the longest gap between them during graduation since their last meeting. They couldn’t meet with each other during the completion of graduation. Meanwhile, there were many new friends of his in a changed atmosphere. He used to go to college daily by train. His maximum time got killed during the journey for attending the classes daily. He couldn’t enjoy college life like other local friends. He was deeply concerned about making his career. He wouldn’t get engaged with other futile activities like his college friends. Fortunately, there was a girl who was watching him constantly during graduation as she was his practical partner too. She also resembled his old two girlfriends, unfortunately. she also gets developed an affinity with him as he was sincere, honest, laborious, simple and serious in study. Naturally, he gets induced liking for her due to the resemblance between her face and the figure of his old girlfriends. He knew that appearances can be deceptive. They still were good friends. He couldn’t fall in her love up till now as he was a gentle boy and always bothered about his career. He thought himself that it wasn’t the right time to spare valuable time in such a matter. But, there was still fire in his heart about that face which made him always disabled. He gets only involved in making his career by keeping the heavy stone on his young feelings. When he was in the final year of graduation, his sister’s friend took admitted to the college as she couldn’t get admission in the medical. He would meet with her once in blue moon before her admission to the same college. Both of them would attend college daily by train. Hence their friendship seemed to be very thick to his classmate. When the doubt was thick, love would be thin. Every lady could judge the internal intentions of her counterpart. Both of them were in dilemma about the boy. But he took it with a pinch of salt. Both of them passed their graduation in science. She preferred to do a degree in education in her native place. He had decided to complete his post-graduation in science in the new city. His junior friend got a bonus mark for first-year graduation which helped her for getting admission in the medical. In this way, all of the friends once again get segregated in their life.

He had taken the admission for the post-graduation in the city. Fortunately, there was his first old friend in the same institute but in different faculty. They were relaxed and happy as both of them came together again after a few years. They would meet during college time. They talked with each other and exchange their views from time to time. Both of them belonged to poor families. They were dependent for money on their elder brothers. His father retired from his job without pension provision a few years ago. He always used to remind him to become independent at the earliest. He dreamed a lot in his life. Financial constraints and odd circumstances diverted his target at the crossroad. He, therefore, made up his mind to appear for competitive examinations so that he would get a job soon. He was successful in his mission just after his final examination of post-graduation. He thought that he would prepare for his dream. Since his job was operational, he couldn’t concentrate on his set target. He failed in his mission and was transferred to another state. His childhood girlfriend had chosen her separate path due to her domestic problems. Neither he could love nor could fulfil his dream. He got married to the girl as his parent decided. He thought that his parent’s choice was as right as rain since he was cold feet for his failure in life. Neither he could dare to share his feelings nor understand the other’s feelings while making his career.

He got married to a beautiful, educated girl. But he couldn’t be free from the face which was already stored in his brain camera. His wife’s younger sister had the same figure and appearance as those girlfriends in his life. She respected him as her elder brother. He had also loved her as sister-in-law. She also got married after a few years. He had two kids. The elder one was the daughter and the other sons. After many years, he was back to his old office where he was joined on the first posting. It was a big office. There was a young married lady who resembled his old girlfriend with slight variation. She was the program coordinator in the office for conducting various functions. There were many Hindi competitions within the intra-departmental as well as inter-departments for promoting Hindi in the central government offices.

There would be All India departmental Hindi conferences for promoting Hindi in scientific departments. She used to inspire him to participate in all these competitions as he was a good orator, writer and poet. He would see her eye to eye with her proposal as he had gravity with her due to his weakness. He couldn’t make himself understand why these types of similar girls made good relations with him. He had a good idle relationship with her till retirement.

There were many things that happened in his life. His sister-in-law lost her husband due to a heart attack. She was a widow when she was quite young having three kids. His girlfriend was a classmate of his sister. She got married to a doctor. But she couldn’t enjoy her married life with him for unknown reasons. She got divorced from him. She opened her clinic in the city, But he never met with her. There was a get-to-gather function for old classmates in their school after their retirement where he met his first girlfriend in the function. She came from Pune for that function. She was happy while meeting with him. She shared her story with him. She told him that she had two kids. Her husband was judged and died of a heart attack a few years ago. He was very unhappy with her tragedy. He didn’t have faith in horoscopy right from the beginning. But, he would be compelled to know why these incidents occurred with them with whom he had an emotional attachment. He decided not to make any inquiry of the rest of the girlfriends till his last breath as curiosity killed the cat. The question was still unanswerable why these identical faces, as well as figures, would have an idle emotional attachment with him throughout his life.
