Prostitution as a honeytrap

In his administrative text – Arthashastra, Kautilya, a Brahmic Minister in the court of an Indian king, Chandragupta Maurya acknowledged the ability of a woman to weaken a man's belief and self-control by enticing him i.e., the ability to seduce. He used this art of seduction to his advantage in his quest to advise the king on running & safeguarding the kingdom better. Thousand years hence, this art of seduction is the new art of war. Brothels over the years have turned into fulcrums for espionage activities. Spying, a world of illegal legal, for years, has evolved from being a hush, low-key military and counterintelligence affair to having versatile elements in its domain ranging from military to economy & industries. In fact, espionage is in itself a fast-emerging industry. The best espionage agent in the world is the one whose name is still unknown, who is still free, the one who is never caught and is unbeatable. A legend who never surfaced in the news with their heroics yet is the lead of the story. An actor with as many identities as faces. A shadow noticing and listening to everything yet isn't omnipresent. A spy, who is an illusion, someone who is there but is not. Hence a prostitute is the best espionage agent in the world. Hitler used prostitutes to keep an eye on his allies, Russia used them against the US, for poisoning enemies or even finishing them off. Time and time again it has proven a prostitute is the best espionage agent. The Indian Intelligence Agency R&AW will recollect the famous case of honey trapping of KV Unnikrishnan during Operation Pawan. The agent in question was deployed in Sri Lanka and was the main handler of secret missions of R&AW. He was honey-trapped by an air hostess en route USA. The air hostess worked for the CIA for money. The CIA used the exploits of Unnikrishnan to extract information from him, owing to his high post, thereby compromising the most secretive mission.

Prostitution in new light – Sextortion

AI tools too are in active use, but the video call or strip method is the most popular one. India is slowly becoming the sextortion capital of the world. This has also raised concerns regarding straining mental health. Extreme cases have led to suicides as well.

While it is important to legalize prostitution, it is equally important to develop a framework for the risks that accompany it.
