Not Enough Time
Not Enough Time
"Here is your meal ma'am!" "Enjoy!"
Mrs. Madlock was all alone at the restaurant. Her face was pale. She was petrified. She was 40 but looked very young.
Mrs. Madlock lived with her husband who suffered from Amnesia. Obviously, he was not fit to work and hence she had to work hard for their living.
She did her best to make her husband happy. On Sundays, they usually went to malls and cafes.
On 25th Oct 2018, Mrs. Madlock thought of taking Mr. Madlock to the movies. They saw a sci-fi movie and went to an expensive cafe.
Suddenly, it was very dark as if doom has made its entry into the world of mortality. It started raining.
"Honey, it's raining, and we can't walk now. I have to book a cab. Would you please wait here for me? Don't go anywhere. You are safe. You will be safe." Mrs. Madlock gave a sweet smile and kissed his forehead.
"I will be waiting for you. Come back as soon as possible." Mr. Madlock's eyes shined bright as he said this. He loved his wife more than anything. But he was tired. He was tired of his sickness and his inability.
Mrs. Madlock left her purse intentionally on the table saying that she doesn't need it now as she will be back soon.
She went.
He waited.
Two hours. Three hours. Four hours. Five hours. Mr. Madlock kept asking for her. She was not there. It seemed as if doom has entered the world.
Everybody thought Mrs. Madlock left his poor husband all alone and went to another city probably with a rich man.
Mr. Madlock's condition was not good. He forgot about everything but his wife. He was admitted to a hospital and luckily got free treatment.
Mrs. Madlock was in Singapore. She left some of her money with his husband.
"I didn't want to do this. But I had to." Mrs. Madlock whispered this to herself as tears came falling down her pale cheeks.
The restaurant where she was sitting had a nice ambience. She somehow knew about the whereabouts of Mr. Madlock. She was at peace.
Her phone was ringing. She was very scared to receive a call from the doctor. She was nervous. She thought of throwing away the phone. But she had to face the reality one day.
"Ma'am, I am sorry to inform you. You are suffering from cancer, and it is the last stage." "You don't have enough time."
"I never wanted to have enough time, doctor."
