Night's Call

Darjeeling is not far away. From roof of the house, a light sleeping hill can be seen. The city is Siliguri. A small town in North bengal. The house is for bachelors. Sunirmal is on the second floor. There is bed room kitchen, bathroom, toilet only. There is a little bit of furniture in their building just for the bachelors. Same as ground floor. There are now four of them in the building where six can stay. Sunirmal, Rajat is on the first floor and Manaj, Vikash are on the ground floor. Vikash works in Siliguri municipality. And gets paid 10000 rupees. All three Rajat, Sunirmal, Manaj went to college. Place is very nice but there is a lot of vacant land in the vicinity. Some lands are surrounded by walls. At the back of the house is another two storey house. The house is very old, plaster has fallen off in many places, the colour is lost in many places. The house is on a very big land, just behind rented house of Sunirmal.It has been ten days since Sunirmal came to this house but he never opened a window of the back house. Sunirmal has a different feeling about the house in the back.Sunirmal, Rajat and Manaj don't have classes together in college all day. Like today Rajat will go to college but there is no class of Sunirmal.So today Sunirmal cooked early and sat down for reading a ghost story. The story is very deadly. Story name is Night's call. After reading that story Sunirmal spent the whole day noticing that clothes were not brought from the roof and it was getting late. Picking up those clothes as usual eyes of Sunirmal went to the back house. Looking at the back house, Sunirmal fell as if the surroundings of the back house were filled with smoke. Sunirmal had no idea when the sun had set. A window in the back of the house Suddenly opened. Sunirmal saw a blue light shining in the room with the window open and a man was trying to commit suicide by clinging to the ceiling fan. Sunirmal shouted and persuaded the man but the man did not listen. Suddenly sunirmal saw the man's body hanging from the fan. The man open his throat and stood in front of the window, looking at sunirmal with one glance. Sunirmal was terrified and his whole body was drenched in sweat and trembling some how he got some energy and ran home with clean and dry clothes.

When he closed the window of his room, his eyes went to the back of the house but there was no window open and no blue light. Rajat has returned after completing college and private studies at 9 pm. Sunirmal didn't tell Rajat anything he saw. The next day Sunirmal, Rajat went out to the city with some more friends to visit iskon temple and jungle area and many parks. After spending the whole day with friends, Sunirmal and Rajat came back home. It was evening when they returned. There was a light bulb on the stairs. Sunirmal asks Rajat to turn on the switch but gets no reply from Rajat. Sunirmal himself turns on the switch and is surprised to see how the light has changed from white to blue. Frightened, Sunirmal came out without seeing Rajat and saw Rajat still trying to close the gate. The gate was closed with a tug, but it was not a problem when they went out to tour the city. Sunirmal and Rajat come back to the house wondering why there is a sudden rust at the gate. There is nothing left in the house except potatoes for cooking the next day. Sunirmal walks fifteen minutes to the front of the market to buy vegetables. Sunirmal bought a few chicken eggs and went into a vegetables shop inside the market. This side of the market is not so crowded. It's eight o'clock at night. At nine o'clock in the night the market is closed. Sunirmal is asking how much it costs in the vegetable shop. Suddenly Sunirmal felt a loud sigh on his neck. But looking back Sunirmal doesn't see anyone. Once again he looked back and saw the man in the clean back house. Rope marks on the neck. Tongue sticking out a bit. Blood is dripping from both sides of the lips. Standing very close to neck of Sunirmal. Sunirmal was frightened. With a trembling throat he told the shopkeeper not to give up soon. The shopkeeper put the packet full of vegetables in bag of Sunirmal. The shopkeeper asked Sunirmal if he was feeling unwell. Sunirmal gestured to look back. But the shopkeeper saw nothing. Light bulb is burning with very little light in shop. Quite dark around. And without delay, Sunirmal hurried out of the shop and started walking loudly. The shopkeeper shouted from behind to take the retail money. But that call didn't reach ears of Sunirmal.

When he came back to the mess hall. The bright white light of the stairs gave him a lot of relief. Rajat and sunirmal are lying side by side in two beds. At night 1.30 am.Suddenly woke up Rajat. Rajat could not see Sunirmal in bed of Sunirmal. The door of the room was open but Rajat could not think why he would go to the clean roof so late at night. The whole body trembled with fear at what he saw as he left the house to see what was going on. Sunirmal is standing on the 1st floor stairs with a blue light around there. Someone is standing on the first floor stairs with a rope marks around his neck. Blood on the face, eyes are completely black, as it trying to get out right. Sunirmal is calling with a handshake.Rajat brings Sunirmal in room by energy in his body. The task wasn't easy because Sunirmal didn't have Consciousness. After regaining consciousness, Sunirmal told Rajat everything. Rajat saw knowing the man, Sunirmal was reassured. Sunirmal thought it was all a mental illness. Rajat was calling in mobile phone of Vikash at night. So the next morning Manoj and Vikas came to the first floor. The whole incident become known in the face of Vikas. They have been in this house for a long time than Sunirmal and Rajat. They have already heard the ghostly notoriety of the back house. Two years ago. a man committed suicide by hanging himself in that house. The body was recovered several days. The man was involved in gambling, trafficking in woman and many other illegal activities. The man is the Son of the owner of the house. The police were looking for the man. Moreover the man had a lot of debt in the market. The four of them then decided to leave the house. They pack their belongings. The ghost story book was lying on the table which Sunirmal was reading. Rajat asked Sunirmal not to take the book on the table. Sunirmal picked up the book. The friend of protagonist in the story of the book saves the protagonist from nishidak(night's call).
