Scary Night

I was sleeping. Suddenly I was too thirsty and my throat became dry. I wanted water. Mummy had told me that I was a big boy now. So I walked into the kitchen in the dark scary night. It was 12:00. My mom and dad were fast asleep. I was lonely in the kitchen; little scared. To add to my fear, there was a power cut!! And if that wasn't enough to scare me, I realized that there was no water in the pot. Then I remembered that the water supply was cut that evening. I started sweating.

Just then I heard a loud roar. It was a laugh... Witch's loud laugh...

I was too sleepy but just then came a loud howl... And then a laugh. It went on and every time it became louder. I was too frightened. The only thing I could think of was to rush to my friend's house. Bob was my next-door neighbor and my best friend. The sounds become too scary and I felt dizzy and couldn't utter a word out of fear. I ran as fast as my legs could take me.

I reached Bob's home. It took me ages to reach there. Just when I was about to knock the door, I tripped over the doormat and I fell in a secret passage below...I was too scared but also curious to know what lies ahead. Inside the passage, there were sticky, slimy algae... Yuk... And it changed its color continuously. The passage went up and down and took me up again.

The passage felt never-ending. But just then, to add to my scare, stood a man. With my eyes wide open, I had a closer look. Man with whiskers? A cat man?

Just then he mewed loudly and then roared "I am Kal Kafia and I am going to eat you".Meow Meow. I was perspiring by now. He continued "No one can kill me. I fear no one Meow". I closed my eyes and started praying to God. To my surprise and relief, Bob was here..standing just next to me... And Kal Kafia was gone... I hugged Bob and narrated the whole incident to him in one breathe.

Bob started laughing at me. I ran holding his hand to show him the secret passage, under the doormat. But there was nothing. Bob kept laughing. And then suddenly we tripped. That felt like magic, evil magic.

The algae weren't colorful anymore... They turned black and then there were books all around. It was written '100001 ways to defeat Kal Kafia' on those books. Bob tried reaching to the books. But suddenly we heard a voice. " Stop, don't touch the books. If you take any book, they will vanish. And you too...". And Bob vanished. And then I saw Kal Kafia standing there. Bob was Kal Kafia and he was staring at me again.
