My second mother
My second mother
To,
My Second Mother,
I have a faint memory of childhood,
But whenever anyone tells me
How I was brought up, you are always there.
In those pictures holding me tight in your arms.
Feeding me with all the care and love.
Gently dressing me up.
Mumma always said you are my second mom
And I used to laugh and displace the matter.
But today when I reminisce,
I realise you were always my mom, Di.
I remember you being awake all night
When I didn't sleep and covering me with a blanket
Every time I kicked it off.
You developed the urge in me to listen to stories
And taught me to read and write.
The happiness on your face was evident
When after months of efforts,
I finally made a conversation in English.
>
You have always been worried about me,
Be it the time when I was admitted to the hospital
Or the times I have a cold and cough.
You love me, protect and pamper me
Like no other in the family.
The way you hug me when mom gets angry,
I melt into a puddle.
I know you wanted an elder brother,
But I promise I'll be better than that.
I was nervous and scared when Maa said
I have to live with you the entire week,
For you would scold me a lot these days.
But that week was the best I have ever experienced.
You pampered me and handled me
With a lot of patience than you possess.
Not even for once you scolded me.
So, the next time you say
You want to adopt me,
I have my bags already packed.
Yours,
First Child
