My Destiny My Fate Bestowed To My Motherland
My Destiny My Fate Bestowed To My Motherland
This is not a story to search for a mega championship. This is a story which subordinates the life of a common man serving his nation in every possible way, to make us live and breathe significantly. Although the story is mine, I don’t know from where I need to start.
My story begins somehow like this: My father was a government school teacher who earned Rs 75/- every month. My mother was a homemaker who never regretted of being so poor and managed our home's financial status quite well. And we were a family of three brothers and two sisters so father was all the more burdened to fulfil our demands too. I was the youngest of all and as usual pampered the most. No one could bear even a single teardrop from my eyes. The aesthetic nature of my family was famous in my village. But one day my father came back home with a face full of tension. The exemplar silence had been subordinated in the family and me, the little boy that I was went to each one of my elder curious to know what was going on. They ignored me. Yet I continued questioning them. To this, my second elder brother got extremely angry and said that our father had lost his job due to some conspiracy and that we were now stuck in a situation that I won’t be able to understand. The first thing that stuck in my mind was that now my father won’t be able to provide me the Hercules Bicycle that I wanted badly. But for the sake of our family I got over it. I went to my father, gently touched his feet and said, "Father the best thing about bad times are that they also last only for a while." He acoustically smiled and patted me and hugged me as I said some miracle.
Days passed by and my father began taking tuition for students to support the family expenses. Then one day when I was returning from my 10th board exam, my friends and I decided to visit horse house (a popular show in which horses perform super stunts). There I saw the man sitting on the back of horse wearing helmet risking his life. The moment the man revealed his face, I stood in complete shock. I ran my ass out from there. I was not able to hold my nerves when I saw that it was my father. He was risking his life just to bring a beautiful curve to our lips. I was extremely surprised at the modesty of my father. From that day, I had only one aim and that was to support my family in any possible way I can. At that time, army was the only thing that I could qualify for considering that I had only passed my tenth class. So I decided to sit for the test. I passed my written test and during the viva round, the army personnel asked me why I wanted to join Indian army? I smiled and said, “To support my family.” The results came and I was selected. I came back home and showed my joining letter to my family. All of them were happy as I was the youngest and had still managed to get a government job at an early stage of my life. But my father did not seem very happy. I approached him, placed my head in his lap and asked him the reason for his unhappiness? He said, “The job you chose is undoubtedly the best job but remember our motherland demands one thing that is sacrifice. Often you will be left in a dilemma in choosing your family and your family that is India. I nodded my head as if I understood everything but actually I didn't. I was happy and enjoying my success. My days were passing good serving nation in every possible way. I got married and now I had three kids.
At this time when bombs are being dropped at every step, I’m facing death every day. It’s too cold at Siachin Base camp. We should be trembling in the snows but we aren't because now somewhere I understand what my father said that day. And I have also decided what to choose when I’m in a dilemma. I’m just waiting to let my enemies have the test of that choice.
It’s snowing hard now. We are out of our camp with gun and bullets. Death can knock us down any time but till the last drop of my blood I will serve for my country. India, the word itself is enough to increase my heartbeat, my circulatory system. The night is prevailing but we are making sure that if any bullet is going to hit any of us safeguarding this nation it should be me. Because nothing can be better than sacrificing life for the country. The only wish I want to make is "Love demands love and war can be answered by war." I just want to make it sure that India has won the battle of peace before bestowing my life.
"Life a journey, started with the rumble of life
Life a journey, ending with the rumble to give life
Life a journey, making nation safest on earth
Life a journey, to let every citizen smile. "
I don't know if I will be able to see my parents again, to feel the warmth of the hands of my children, to feel love of my wife. But one thing I know for sure is that if I don’t return they can still make their livelihood. But I will never surrender. Because soldiers are strong but stronger than them are their families who let their sons to become India's son. I’m blessed to have a family like this and feel blissful to have taken birth in the pious soil of India. It’s high time that I pay my gratitude towards my first mother. But I promise your debt will be paid in next life because again if I’m born as a human I would want to serve my nation. Nothing is more satisfying than this. I love you Papa, I love you mummy. I love you my better half and my children. I will stay strong and do something to make you feel proud. Bharat mata ki jai. Jai hind! Jai bharat! - A soldier, never off duty.
