Mission Kandahar

AFGHANISTAN

"Truck coming on your right," the man equipped with an AK-47 said.

The leader of the group ordered the men to move forward and take positions.The truck was headed towards the ISAF HQ in Kabul. The truck moved towards a dense forest with a narrow road, suddenly 5 men equipped with AK-47 emerged from the dense forest and sprayed hellfire bullets on the truck killing the driver immediately. The men then circled around the truck making a tight circle. 3 men wearing AF military uniform were holed inside the truck not knowing what to do, one of them switched on his radio and said, "This is Abu Hamad from regiment 6A, our truck headed to ISAF has been ambushed,requesting backup." The men outside place 2 C-4s at the rear of the truck. Unknowing of what is happening outside, the AF soldiers were hoping for a response from the HQ. After a few minutes the radio chimed in, "This is HQ, backup on the way, please hold." On hearing this the AF soldiers were relieved of their stress, one of the soldier asked, "Isn't it strange that we can't hear any noise outside?"

The eerie silence outside crept into the hearts of the soldier making them worried. "I think it's safe to go outside because I can't hear any footsteps or voices," said one of the AF soldiers. Finally they all decided upon opening the doors, when they opened the doors they were shocked to see no one outside. They equipped themselves with their AK-47's and quietly jumped out of the truck one after another, the 3 wondered why the attackers had left. "I think I know why..." one of them said, on hearing this, the other 2 men looked behind. They see 2 C-4s placed on the door of the vehicle. On seeing this, all 3 ran for cover, after a few seconds a huge blast turned the truck into pieces. The 3 men realized that if they were on that truck for a few more seconds they would have surely burnt to death. After a few minutes, a regiment from the ISAF arrived, "Are you the soldiers who sent a distress call to the HQ?"

All 3 nodded in response to his question.

ISAF HQ

"Sir, AF military truck was ambushed in Ghazni yesterday but thankfully the three soldiers inside the truck are alive," said the man wearing a white shirt. His CO responded, "It's good news that those 3 were saved but the driver transporting them is dead!" The man wearing the white shirt said, "I know that sir, but there is nothing we can do about it. It was an AF registered truck which was under the power of the AF Government." The CO dismissed the man and retired to his dorm, he switched on the his computer and sends a letter to Michael Sanders, the team leader of regiment 15D also known as 'Cool Charlie'. Next day the men of Regiment 15D were preparing for their mission of exterminating a sleeper cell located in Kandahar as ordered by the CO. They equipped themselves with M16A4 assault rifle, Glock 17 and a KM2000 combat knife. A Bell UH-1Y Venom stationed outside will be transporting the regiment to Kandahar city.

When they were on the helicopter, one of the soldiers asked Michael, "How many men are situated in the cell?" Michael replied, "Gary, I don't know exactly but intel says roughly about 50-60 militants." On hearing this, Gary said, "Ok mates! Sanders over hear says 50-60 militants in the CAMP!" at every corner of the helicopter groans could be heard. After half an hour, the pilot made an announcement "Gentlemen we will be reaching Kandahar city in ETA 20 min, we would request you to be ready and buckle up" Michael said, "You heard the man, get ready NOW!!" The men put on their jumpsuits and checked their guns. After some time, the bay door opened -

Kandahar

They jumped out into the open air and descended towards Kandahar City, Sanders was the last man out of the plane. 'They have to deploy their parachutes at exactly 1200ft above ground, deploying too late will be disastrous, deploying too early, you will notice that you are still falling down at a great speed.' Sanders saw his dial and it read 2500ft, after a few minutes he saw his dial again and it read 1200ft. Michael quickly deployed his parachute and went towards the Rendezvous Point, he shot a quick glance at his teammates checking if all were okay. All of them landed on the ground in unison and started removing their parachutes. Michael asked Gary if all were okay, Gary replied, "We have the whole team in one piece, don't need to worry about that." Michael asked Jake, his team geographer, "Where do we start?" Jake replied with a smile, "Our sleeper cell is located only 5km away." Everyone was astonished that the sleeper cell was only 5km away, one of the men asked, "Sir, if it is only 5km away then they would have surely seen us." Michael responded, "Not at all soldier, their camp is hidden by a big hill facing the direction of our rendezvous, thus blinding them of our descent." All of them walked towards the sleeper cell. When they had a vantage point of the facility they stopped. David, the chief strategist said, "Sir, we have 2 men in all four sentry posts, these sentry posts are located in the 4 cardinal directions: North, South, East, West. We could have 1 sniper present in the North and 1 in South, we could have our attack team shoot out guard out in patrols and rush through the south gate, any man trying to escape from either gates will be shot by our snipers." Gary impressed by his strategy said to his team, "That's the plan men. Selby! Martin! I hope your Galils are ready for firing. You will be moving now. The rest of us will be the attack team, so get your weapons ready!! We will be leaving in a minute."

SNIPER TEAM

"SNIPER1 in position, proceeding to take out targets," said Selby. "SNIPER2 in position, proceeding to take out targets," said Martin.

Selby trained his Nightforce NXS on his first target, he controlled his breathing, He inhaled and exhaled...finally he was calm enough to pull the trigger. He trained his sniper at the target's head and waited, he didn't want wind to affect his shot. He thought Martin must be doing the same thing. When the wind calmed down Selby took his shot... chik!! Target1 down, right after he shot he heard his radio start" Target1 down," Selby thought without these suppresors our whole mission would have been heard in the center of the city. Selby trained his sniper on the next target who was standing as if nothing ever happened, he controlled his breathing and shot...Chik!! "Target2 down," he heard the same thing in the radio. Now it was the Attack Team's job to take down the remaining men. Sanders and his team took attacking positions and waited...

ATTACK TEAM

Sanders asked, "Are all men ready?"

The team replied, "Hooyah."

On hearing this Sanders said, "I take that as a yes. Fire..."

Sanders and his team team rained bullets on the West watchtower, the guards were caught off and perished under the rain of bullets. David said, "West gone East left." The team moved towards the remaining watchtower with careful and fast movement.They were about 500mts when they heard a bullet shot from behind, when they looked behind they saw a dead militant. Sanders radio started up, "Selby here, that guy tried to sneak up on you guys. Better keep a good watch on your rear." Sanders replied, "We will do, Over And Out." They stealthily moved towards the East watchtower, the guards were in high alert after they found out that the other watchtowers were empty. Sanders team trained their ACOG scopes on the 2 men and fire...RATTATTATATAT! goes their M16A4s, 1 man died instantly when hit by the bullets whereas the other man took cover by staying down. Sanders asked Martin and Selby if they had a shot on the last man but both of them said he was in a blind spot. Then suddenly something green fell down from the tower, immediately Sanders shouted GRENADE!!, his comrades on hearing this took cover and the grenade burst without inflicting damage to any of them. Sanders took his own grenade and threw it to the tower...BOOM! The tower bursts into smithereens. The team then moved towards the South Gate and placed 4 C-4's planted to detonate at exactly 15 seconds. At exactly 15 seconds the C-4 detonated, destroying the South Gate.The group rushed inside the facility taking attack positions and sprayed hellfire bullets on the guards trying to block them from entering. They got resistance fire from a 2 storey building, they took cover behind vehicles to avoid getting hit. Sanders radio started up again, "It looks like you have a problem over there, let me solve it." Just after the radio switched off Sanders heard 2 shots...Chik! Chik! and 2 men stopped firing from the building leaving only 2 more alive. Sanders ordered his men to rush the house. Taking defensive positions they slowly entered the house. Sanders could hear footsteps from the floor above them, he said his team to cover him from behind. They slowly made their way towards the stairs, suddenly bullets were fired from above directly towards them, the team took cover behind different rooms. Martin threw a Stun Grenade that flew to the upper floor...Bang!! the grenade would have surely blinded the enemy. Sanders team moved towards the upper floor taking defensive positions, Sanders M16A4 was trained at the upper floor just in case if the attacker comes in for a second round. When they reached the upper floor they were startled! there was no one. Many of them decided that they fled but David found a hidden door. Sanders asked, "I need a partner for rushing in, anyone up for it?"

On hearing this everyone replied, "HOOYAH."

They quietly opened the door, just as they opened it, a spray of AK-47 bullets came from the room but thankfully nobody was at the site of impact. George trained his laser sight at the place where the bullets came from and fired...RATAT!. Just as the bullets went inside, the soldiers could hear a groan and the sound of a body falling. George trained his laser sight at the room once, he waited...and shot RATT! He again heard a body falling. Sanders quickly went inside and checked the room, after a few seconds he said it was clear and no one was there. He started up his radio and said, "Attack Team Clear." Selby on hearing this responded, "HOOYAH! MEN, HOOYAH! transport on the way." Sanders said, "For the World!!" and the whole team replied in unison, "FOR THE WORLD!!"
