In the afternoon, I got down from the train at Khemasuli with a bag and baggage. It was a rainy afternoon. However, the rain had set in and some parts of the sky had got cleared. There the infiniteness of the blue was visible with a reddish glow of the setting sun in the far horizon. The whole environment was totally mesmerizing. On the tips of leaves of Sal, Teak and blades of grasses, raindrops were glistering like the drops of pearls. In the eastern horizon, the little crescent moon had risen. The scenery of the enthralling greenery just overwhelmed my mind. Cool caressing wind just kissed my cheek. In the far horizon, there was lying the grey ridge of Dalma Hills. Seeming to be folded with lots of secrets and mysteries, the beauty of the scenic landscape could attract anybody's mind and even could turn the most unromantic person of the world into an awesome poet. Here and there, dark patches of cumulonimbus clouds were wandering about the azure sky like young lonely lovers roaming in search of their companions.

In this panorama of romance and passion, Subhasmita's thoughts just came in my mind."Kaash, agar tu hota aaj meri saath." There were not many people dwelling in the town. Just there one could hear the everlasting sensational music of Mother Nature. The cool breeze was still blowing, refreshing my soul and awakening the passion in my heart. Rustic leaves of Sal were murmuring in the nearby dense forest giving a new vision to my poetic thoughts. Somewhere in the forest, a pack of jackals were howling. It was the pink twilight of the dust. The place was awesome. Dalma and Phuldungri Hills were not far away. And in this sensational environment of romance, Subhasmita, oh my dearest, your thoughts overwhelmed me. You came in my mind just like a whirlwind. I was thinking of the magical aroma that had filled my mind when I had come across you for the first time in the beautiful college premises.

I could remember that it had been in the month of November. It had been a beautiful morning and the environment of our college premises had been exhilarating. I was enjoying the scene of adorable trees decorated with colourful fragrant flowers and a cool breeze was blowing slowly caressing my mind and refreshing my body. I was charmed by the attractive fragrance of the adorable flowers of the garden. Suddenly, another fragrance had overwhelmed my mind. I was charmed to see a pair of eyes that resembled the eyes of the fawn of the ancient Tapovan. Then I behold the smile of the angelic face that took after the silvery effulgence of the moon. And then the magical charming voice entered into my ear. And then I eyed the most beautiful lady in the world, Subhasmita. And at that first sight of my dreamgirl, I was struck by the arrows of Cupid. I was lovestruck.

The symphony of your voice would create the melody of musical tones in my heart. Your soft juicy lips were like the red tulips that my heart would long to kiss every time, now and then.

The romantic thoughts about you would make my mind filled with euphoria. When you called my name or talked with me, my mind would sink in the ocean of love. The heart would run faster and faster. And your voice was magical. Ah, when I heard the melodious tone, that would remind me of the solitary cuckoo singing in the beautiful springtime.

I always longed for the warm embrace of your tendrils of mine. Wished your soul were to be mine! Overwhelmed in your thoughts, spent many nights sleepless. In my leisure time, created the verses of poetry in my diary. I wrote verses of romance, words of passion. Your name would create a euphoric rhythm in my heart. But that was the irony of fate that I had never been able to propose you. Now, you are no more in the world. Your soul is in the other world. And my poetic mind would find your glimpses everywhere, but alas! Subhasmita, I would find you nowhere.

Anyway, my forest guest house was located at just about 5 kilometres away from here. The whole environment was filling with mysterious darkness. For a time, the murmuring of leaves and blowing of breeze had stopped. And there was pin-drop silence. I boarded off rickshaw. Beside the road, sometimes there was barren land, and sometimes there was dark and dense forest of Sal. The ridges lying in the horizon were seeming grey. The local Adivasis (native people) would believe that in the darkness of midnight, the unsatisfied souls would land in the hills to satisfy their desires. Suddenly my mind got filled with a strange thought. Ultimately, souls are immortal.

This time I was unsatisfied and she was a good friend. If I called her with the passion of desires brimming in my mind, why wouldn't she come and listen to me that night? When the environment would be filled with the silvery effulgence of the silvery moonbeams, I would confess the plethora of my love to her. She might accept my proposal. I prayed that her soul would come to me fast and quench my thirst. Even to get her, if she wanted me to die, I would do that for sure. Then the two souls would mingle. And if that didn't happen, then my heart would sing:

"Fragrance of our love will be there in the lake of tears,

Waves of our love will dwindle in the ocean of sorrows,

Symphony of our love will overwhelm the valley of death,

The vivacity of our love will be seen to the end of our life!

Te quiero,

Te quiero."
