Love Thyself- An Inner Realization

Pain, a personal suffering...almost, always thought to be physical. As anyone would, she tried to get relief from it; but in vain. The excruciating ache from her neck made her uncomfortable, restless. She consulted many doctors, underwent all kinds of tests, but somehow wasn’t diagnosed with any specific disease. Along with medicines, she had also tried all home remedies and therapies, not yielding much effect. Generally, when asked about her well-being, she would start cribbing, “God knows for what karma of mine, I am going through this hell!”

But sometimes you find hope when you least expect it...like the light at the end of a tunnel. Once, in this journey of years of suffering, a spiritual friend of hers posed her a few questions- “Is treatment to pain only to be done on a physical level?” “Do you live with your heart?” “For how long do you hold the unwanted things/ thoughts in your heart?” Further she continued, “If your mind and heart cannot carry the extreme burden of thoughts and that of living against your will, the soul too gets upset!”

“The soul gets upset?” It was difficult to digest, like a new-found wisdom- but it did make some place in her mind. Turning back the pages of her life, she realized so many of her decisions were made out of fear or succumbing to external pressure. She, herself was the only cause for her pain!

When realization sinks in, the mind’s eye opens. “I need to accept and now, love myself,” she got teary-eyed as she consciously made a decision.

This wise and timely decision began to enlighten her life. Thereafter, whenever life posed situations of dilemma, she wrote down her principles and resolutions and based on the same, took decisions in her life.

Now, as a rightful and moral duty, she has started spreading the word- “If the body and mind as conceived by our soul does not hold on to negativity; and if without caring about the world, your inner voice stays triumphant, then your body and mind stay at peace. Most of the mental and physical illnesses go away. At the culmination of a life led truly, the soul leaves the body with ease and only then, does the life progress spiritually.
