There is not a day that goes by that I am not so very grateful for being alive.

I speak of crying all the time but these aren't the tears I use to cry. These aren't tears of unhappiness, of pain and hopelessness, no these are tears of joy.

I am a big believer in always being grateful, of always being in a state of gratitude even in the storms of your life. You can always find something to be grateful for. This weekend was especially that for me. Even though I had a list of things I wanted to get done, things didn't turn out that way.

A friend called me on Friday night and wanted to go out to dinner and shoot some pool. So I left my things and took advantage of a night of fun. The following morning as I was supposed to be getting up to clean my yard and tackle my list. My friend calls and says let's go for brunch. I think I got this list…

I think...Oh screw the list, live in the moment, the lawn will always be there.

Afterwards I came home and since it was such a beautiful day I sat outside in the yard that needed to be cleaned and wrote for a while totally ignoring what was clearly staring me in the face.

I then took a nap and went on a date at the Beach, afterwards I met some school friends to watch a band.

On the ride home, as I was smiling ear to ear, thinking about how much fun I had, I couldn't help but give thanks. On Sunday I overslept and decided to have church myself, so I got my gospel music and walked 4 miles around my lake giving thanks to God for all I have. For this beautiful day, for my health, my girls, my friends and family. For my home and the business I own, I gave thanks for this gift of writing. I was so filled with gratitude that I was dancing around my lake with this shit eating grin on my face.

I enjoyed the whole day being outside, I got to have breakfast and dinner with my girls and it was just the perfect weekend. Did anything on my list get done? Not a damn thing but it didn't matter, I had a ball. I made memories, I lived in the moment and I was so very grateful for each and every second.

So today my friends remember we don't have tomorrow guaranteed to us, life is short. Leave the dishes, forget the laundry and the lists, they will forever be there but will you?

Live your best life now, be grateful you can do these things while you still can. Go out and dance, visit friends and family, go to the beach, take a walk in nature, live your life large.

Be present in the moment, have gratitude and remember life is too short not to.
