Julia - At the Crossroads

Julia was in her unusual, unconventional and surely uncomfortable dress that morning. It was a morning with mixed emotions for her. More than her eyes, her trembling hands revealed her mind. Her hesitant feet decided to stay grounded where they were but she was already out in her blooming garden and there it was! An unexpected blow on her back came surprisingly from her only inmate of the house, her father. Her eyes were so distant from my veranda and so a drop or two were not visible. My heart wanted to reach her with comfort but something stopped it. This scene was quite new for me and everyone in the neighborhood. Yet none could extend the hand of God to Julia. 

For ages as if I stood there, and in meantime Julia's school bus arrived. She was forcibly taken to board it and what a scene it was in the bus! Every child was in a very unusual attire but most of them were in fabulous mood. I could only see Julia settling in her seat with all her reluctance. The bus drove away immediately leaving Mr. John waving his hand and cheering Julia. Mr. John saw me in my veranda, crossed the road and came just below it and wished me good morning. His eyes had an overwhelming response to the disgust he had seen in my eyes. He told me, "It's Julia 's first performance on stage and my little princess is Queen Victoria in her act. I am waiting for this mid-morning to watch her performance and see her stage fright disappear. I know she won't disappoint her daddy." My teary eyes revealed how relieved I was. For sure it was a new beginning for Julia. I wished him and asked him to convey my wishes to Julia. This was indeed a great experience for me.
