Journey To Tarapith

Journey To Tarapith

I was constantly forcing my parents to make me visit the holy place of Rampurhat, West Bengal. And that place was none other than Tarapith. Tarapith is really a nice place for a one-day holiday. It was 23rd January 2020. Just before the pandemic situation.

A wintry morning, there was fog all around. Our car was waiting for our arrival. It took about two hours to cover the whole ninety-five kilometres from my home to the Tarapith temple. It was so a crowded place. People were pushing each other to become the first to enter the temple. We went to buy a Dala. 'Dala' means a collection of puja materials. It included sweets, flowers, agarbatti, a saree, and a coconut. We stood on the line. The priests told us the mystery and history of the Tarapith temple. I was so glad to hear that the place, where I was standing at that time, was the home of the mystical person, Sadhak Bamakshepa. After offering the puja materials to the Goddess, we went to visit the Holy Cremation Ground of Tarapith. There, I saw the cremation ground of Bamakshepa. Next, straight from there, we headed towards the house of Bamakshepa. There, it was a big business issue. I am really so sad to say that in this present century, the people are trying to make a business surrounding the birthplace of Bamakshepa. There were two such birthplaces. If anyone goes to the first, then the people there will say that this is the real birthplace, and if you go to the next, they will say that this is the real one. Okay, we have had to consider both of them as the birthplace of Bamakshepa. Next, after crossing the yellow gold like mustard fields, we went to visit the Krishna temple near Tarapith. The Krishna temple was really so wonderful. The marvellous artistic touches of the temple made me realise myself in the chamber of Heaven. Then, after an hour or so, we headed back to our house. It was really a beautiful and enjoyable trip to Tarapith.
