It was a calm day. I woke up and took a shower, then quickly started making breakfast and dressed in my favorite saree since it was my birthday. The day started well, and we were happily going about our morning routine. My husband wished me and got ready for work, while I got my daughter ready for school. Every day, the three of us are so busy getting ready for our respective tasks. My husband goes to work on his two-wheeler, while my daughter and I take public transport. While we were on the bus, my daughter suddenly remembered it was my birthday and wished me. I was glad that my daughter and I managed to find seats and didn't have to stand in the crowded bus where everyone pushes each other, sometimes even men pushing women. My daughter and I chatted until we reached her school, and then I continued on to my workplace using another public transport.

I reached my workplace, which is the central bank with a large number of employees. Then, a sudden incident occurred that changed my life forever. There was an explosion. I heard a terrifying boom sound. I was alive, but I couldn't see what was happening in that situation. My left eye was in extreme pain, and it started bleeding. I didn't know what to do in that large, chaotic crowd where everyone was helplessly screaming, shocked, and terrified. Some even lost their lives. Many people were weeping, and some were taken to the hospital.

I sat in the middle of the road, hoping someone would take me to the hospital since my left eye was damaged. I could see the terrible incident with my right eye, but not completely. All I could think about in that situation was my loving husband and my sweet little daughter. I couldn't even cry because my eyes burned when tears streamed down. My favorite saree was stained with blood. After a while, my left eyeball fell out, and I held it in my hand. They say, "Women in sarees held their eyeballs in their palms." After some time, they took me and some of the injured people to the hospital.

The doctors hurriedly took me to the operating theater. I was unconscious, deafened by the tragic incident and surrounded by chaos. I didn't know what they did. After many hours, I woke up, and the hospital was filled with injured people, like ants in a sugar tub. The hospital was crowded with tears, and the beds were full. I spent the whole day in the hospital, worried about my husband and daughter. I lost my phone and bag in the incident. I didn't even have a single rupee, so I borrowed a phone from a neighboring patient and called my husband. He and my little daughter were searching for me in the explosion area. Then I told him that I was hospitalized but didn't mention my eye. They hurriedly came to search for me, and finally, we reunited. Even though I lost my left eye, great happiness filled my heart when I saw my daughter, and my husband made me forget all the dreadful situations that took place in my workplace. They both cried because I can only see from one eye for the rest of my life.

I am worried too, but I am grateful that I still have my right eye and that I am alive. I can continue to live with my family, and I am there for my daughter and husband. The tragic incident that occurred changed my life and the lives of many others, leaving them with permanent disabilities. It is an unforgettable and dark memory that took place in the lives of the people who were victimized by that horrific explosion.
