The story guides us to try and try again till success is obtained. This is a fictional story which has been written to inspire many young generations.

A young man named R Madhav has a poor background financially. He was having a big dream to become a police officer. He studied to be an engineer but he did odd jobs, even as a waiter temporarily to cherish his bigger dream of becoming an IPS officer and finally he realized his dream. His father's name was Rajappa, who had studied up to the tenth standard, and worked as a labour in a leather factory getting Rs 500 as salary. His mother's name was Rajeshwari who was a simple housewife and coolie worker in the village. He is the eldest in the family and has two brothers. So his only aim was to get a good job as earliest as possible to help the father run the family.

He studied up to the 8th standard in a government school in his village and completed the remaining school classes in a nearby town. After 10th standard, he joined a polytechnic college as job prospects would be better there. Being good at his studies, he got 91 per cent which was enough to get admission to a government engineering college on merit.

Hence he joined the Banglore Government Engineering College to study mechanical engineering. He was the only one in the batch who went to college. Other friends of his became auto drivers or coolies or masons only. His father is very supportive of him knowing the value of education. While he was studying engineering he used to do a part-time job that was working as a corporation cleaner where he used to clean the roads and drainages.

But he always keeps thinking about the youngsters of his village which have no one to guide the importance of education and they always remain poor ending with jobs in a tannery or becoming auto drivers or coolies. Meanwhile, he came to know that a collector in a small place could do a lot. This is the turning point now when he resigned from his job and decided to be an IAS officer.

The tough way starts now to become an IAS officer when he could not clear preliminary exams in the first two attempts because he got no guidance about preparation.

He had taken mechanical engineering as the main subject. Later he met Rohini Kumari who was also preparing for the examination. Rohini Kumari was from Ananthpuram, Chitoor District. Her father was a Great Business Man Surya Prakash. Her mother Mahalakshmi was a simple housewife and was looking over her husband’s business. The whole family settled in Hyderabad. She is the eldest in the family and has one young brother. Her aim was to become a great cop which she was inspired by her grandfather. Her grandfather MalikarjunaRao was a retried Commissioner of Chittoor District. He guides her to take sociology as an option. Then they both became very close to each other. Rohini Kumari started loving Madhav but he was not interested in her he was looking like a friend only. They both wrote the exams. But Madhav got failure on the third attempt. Rohini Kumari got succeeded in the third attempt.

Later he passed the fourth attempt after he joined the government coaching centre (external link) in Banglore. As Banglore was very expensive for him, again he started a part-time job as a billing clerk for computer billing in the canteen at Gopalan Cinemas to run his life and studies too. He worked as a waiter also during the interval. He forgot about Rohini Kumari completely has he was busy completing his ambition. Rohini Kumari send many proposal letters to Madhav but he did not look at that letters as he was busy with his job and interviews. After a few days ago she stopped messaging and sending letters to him. He started focusing more on jobs and interviews but luck did not favour him.

Here comes an interview now. Not very fluent in English but he conveyed whatever he wanted to. Perhaps he did not articulate well. He failed in the interview.

Again he tried for the fifth time afresh and alas! He failed. He later quit the job and joined a private firm to teach sociology to those preparing for the UPSC examinations. His friends in Banglore gave him a helping hand. And his hard work was rewarded. The sixth time he cleared preliminary and main but bad luck continued as he failed the interview. Meanwhile, he had written an examination to be an officer with the Intelligence Bureau and was selected there. Now he has two choices- join the job at IB or prepare again for IPS.

But he was ready for his last attempt. With fear and confusion, he gave his preliminary exam. He passed. He attempted his mains. He passed. Now the last stage- interview, April 2005 Delhi.

He was scared. In an interview, the one mistake he did was that he did not wish the interviewers at the start.

And at last, when the interviewers did not respond when he said thanks at the end, he got confused about his success. He just prayed to God to cherish his seven-year-long dream. Finally, the day of the result came and god listen to his prayers. He got 145th rank out of more than 700 selected candidates. This was the happiest day for this hard worker, self-determined person who encourages others to achieve their goals.

He got a warm welcome at his village and was extremely fascinated by the response of villagers who garlanded him, burst crackers and played music on his arrival. Everyone wished him. His Father Rajappa & Mother Rajeshwari were very happy about their son’s achievement. His photo and name were in the newspaper. As Madhav‘s success bought so much popularity police department appointed him as IPS(Indian Police Service) of his own district Chittoor. By looking at this news Rohini Kumari came to visit Madhav. He was not able to remember by saying her name & later he got remembered. Rohini Kumari was an IAS officer. Madhav was very happy by knowing this news. But Rohini Kumari was a sad little bit. She proposes her love to Madhav. But he told them to wait until he says “OK” to her love proposal.

He said, My real work starts now. I want to try hard to eradicate poverty and spread the message of education to all people.
